Show elivd her e 1 the oracle published in the rich and progressive camp of stateline Stat eline in iron county utah gives the following interesting account of the district and of its leading mines stateline Stat eline has probably received less notice from outsiders than any other camp of equal importance in the mining region with the same surface showing in idaho or nevada salt lake stock brokers would be rushing in and column after c column would be printed about the camp past present and to come and the attention of capitalists ita lists would be called to the wealth ving lying around ready to multiply the fortune of the lucky investor stateline Stat eline ho however W has been I 1 left eft to work outher out her own salvation which it has been doing for principally porphyry and the ore lies in veins of quartz beginning on the east side of the mineralized section the values are found to be gold with very little silver but as we proceed westward silver values in increase until they predominate on the west most of the veins run northerly and southerly although the three principal mines the johnny the ahe margaret and ther the ophir done and four levels blocked out enough ore has been blocked outto out to keep this mill running for months and the dumps representing development work can all be treated at a handsome profit the vein is from six to thirty feet wide and values will average about 16 per ton a little over 6 per cent being silver the balance gold Q 4 77 birdseye view of the town of 0 some years slowly but none the less surely and notwithstanding the many drawbacks it has had to contend with the time is not far ar distant when this camp will he be numbered with the best and most permanent 0 producers in the state the mineral belt extends ten miles north of t S where the perseverance and confidence are located anil and seven in miles iles south to pikes diggings and is from two and a halt half to five miles wide tho the country rock is of igneous origin vein running east and are located on a west the principal ore bearing veins have a width of from three to six feet although a much greater width is frequently found the johnny with the starting of the mill this property has entered the ranks of at the producers appearance of a long and prosperous with every the company owns nine pero us life rich vel vein n A strong claims in which is a work has been 1 great deal of development 15 the ore is first run over amalgam plates and afterwards treated with cy cyanide anide the combined process saving practically all the values ophir the ophir has been unfortunate but no one doubts the fact of its being a good mine and all who are posted on the situation say that with the settlement of litigation and some improvements in the treat ment of the ore the mine will become one of the great producers of the state the mine has been developed to a depth of feet and a strong vein opened up some remarkably rich ore has been uncovered and averages run high the property is equipped with a mill of tons capacity the creole on the creole about feet of w work aik oik has been done all of it in good ore ta the vein is from two to seven feet and I 1 is a gold proposition A conservative estimate of the values is from 8 to 10 and most people put it at considerable more than this the owners of the property are newell knight of provo J H mcdonald of cedar and W J mcburney of stateline Stat eline the ground is patented and is at present under bond to parties from duluth minn by the terms of the bond the first payment is due march at which time work must also be started on the property there is every evidence that the bond will be taken up but in any case work will be commenced at an early date the margaret the margaret lies between the johnny and the ophir and on the same vein the values are about equally divided between gold and silver parts of the vein being very rich the average value is about 11 but samples running as high as in gold have been found silver values run from three to ninety ounces per ton A shaft has been sunk at one point to a depth of sixty feet from the bottom of which an incline has been run feet and drifts have been run in other directions work is at present going ahead in the double compartment shaft which has now reached a depth of feet the property is owned by an incorporated corp orated company the officers being grant H smith president james F muldoon vice president W J dooley secre tary and treasurer the sidewinder the sidewinder lies close property of the big 14 and is owned by and peak the vein has been uncovered for a distance of 1000 feet and shows about forty feet of vein matter A seven foot vein of spar lies alongside the regular vein and althou although kh here the values are not as large as in the vein proper it can be worked at a profit A shaft has been sunk to a depth of sixty feet on the vein and at another point a tunnel has been driven a distance of seventy five feet all in ore of late the labor lids has been expended in driving a tunnel to the bottom of the shaft crosscutting cross cutting the vein it is now in about forty feet the property will make a good cyaniding cyan iding proposition there being no base mineral present and no trace of silver the gold values average over 6 like the ophir the burro is very rich in silver and three shipments have been made to salt lake some of the ore was taken to pioche for a cyanide test which was very satisfactory in its results the mine is pretty well developed anh and only a mill is needed to put the property on a paying basis the property has been lying idle for some on account of a lack of capital to develop it other properties the willowvale willowdale Willow vale owned by dooley and Dra drake kehas has about feet of development part of which Is a tunnel feet in the workings a vein has been uncovered showing an average value of 8 per ton it is strictly a gold proposition and as there is no base mineral in connection will yield readily to the cyanide process the gold belt property consists of four claims and is the property of G H smith courtney drake and mcburney the veins from the johnny margaret and ophir cross the property and intersect a large north and south vein A tunnel has been run on the ledge a distance of forty feet which will eventually cut the east and west veins the big 14 company owns the sunflower located at the north end of the willowvale willowdale Willow vale and have done considerable work A shaft has been sunk to a depth of feet and there is about feet of drifting in different directions there is a good showing on the property the amazon lies south of the big 14 and is on the same ledge A shaft has been sunk to a depth of fifty feet and is all in ore an eighteen inch streak in the vein carries values of 25 or more and hand samples run pretty high the crown point owned by J B smithson and J ryan is located on the same ledge as the willowvale willowdale Willow vale considerable work has been done on the property and a good showing has been made the little chester lies between the johnny and the creole and is owned by W J Me mcburney Durney of stateline Stat eline and hecter griswold of salt lake the property is a very promising one the vein in the utah spur shows many of the characteristics of the ophir and it is probably an extension of the same ledge it is owned by jesse knight and other provo parties the venus is owned by an incorporated company of which W L scott is the local representative it is in a good locality and has all the earmarks ear marks of a big mine there are a number of promising prospects to which our limited space will not allow us to do justice in this issue but they will receive attention at an early date among them we might mention the gold eagle the hoppers sulphides Sulp hides atlas and others at pikes diggings considerable work has been done and the outlook there is very encouraging the independence owned jy by salt lake parties and managed by john larsen the property looks well C A short is doing good work at the jennie another promising property P donovan owns some valuable property in the jumbo group the amethyst Amet hest owned by dooley and drake the wisconsin michigan and wild irish are all deserving propositions |
