success attended the drilling for oil in the texas oil fields lo 10 cal men of experience and enterprise at once turned their attention to the promising fields within the environments of our own fair state abany companies were organized for the purpose of going to the deep in the hope of finding the source of the many oil springs and heaps from which oozed forth oil of the finest quality and value the first of these to begin operations in the eastern portion of the state was the san rafael oil company of this city which lugan beran operations in sinbad valley in the san sail rafael country emery county a few months ago the company putting up the first oil drilling rig to be installed in this portion of the state a stroke of enterprise that has since been followed by several other strong companies the san rafael oil company which wafts was incorporated on the ath of juneol june of the present year with a capitalization of shaf shares s of a par value of twenty five cents each owns 2000 acres of land in the locality mentioned in emery county soon after its incorporation tionda it put in a drilling plant constructed especially ally for its use by the star drilling machine company of akron ohio and at th the e present time the sum of has been ex in drilling equipment and development work up to date in its drilling operations the company has attained a depth of k af alt IV ak M oil company compan y in the sinking of its initial well that the management has already contracted for the drilling of a second well and now another rig is on the ground and another hole ingoing is going down about a mile south of where operations were first begun in oil exploitation and it itis is believed that it will not be long now before discoveries of oil will be found in this new venture which if successful will be followed by others of a similar nature until this barren region will present a perfect forest of oil drilling rigs as many other companies own large tracts of oil lands in CO pany before beginning operations on a large and systematic scale the work now being done by the san rafael oil company is being watched with a great 1 deal of interest by salt lakers and by those who are identified with the oil industry of utah and adjoining states and for the reason that the personnel of the company is composed of some of our most reputable and reliable business men the roster of the association being as follows A J lee president thomas nichols ichols vice president W H dark clark secretary and treasurer and A J davis an oil operator of twenty years experience manager the company having expended and over of its own money in well equipment and development before any of its treasury stock was offered to the general public the pr property i of the san rafael company is located about sixty miles south of price on the R G W railroad and is easily accessible having struck a good flow of water at a low depth the water problem of that region has been solved As soon as the wells are listed as producers it is the intention to con a pipeline from the oil fields to price for the economical conveyance of the oil to the railroad and this can easily and cheaply be put in the photographs Z of the san rafael plant of the oil spring and of the general formation which embellish this article were taken by mr frank dark clark of this city |
