Show farmington CANYON MINES every little while encouraging reports come in from the mines and prospects of canyon in davis county a few miles north of this city this section is known to be well mineralized and to abound in in most promising gold and copper deposits and ledges and there is every reason to believe that in the near future a number of pro and paying mines will be opened up there A week ago the mining review had a pleasant call from L E U abbott of farmington n who athe efficient sheriff of davis coun ty mr abbott associated with his brother jed abbott is working a group of claims in farmington canyon near the divide and the showing is so encouraging in this prospect that the boys feel that th they eyare are the owners of a copper bonanza in embryo the formation is a true fissure in granite geologically the natural home hoine of copper the strike of the ledge being east andrest and west with a dip nearly vertical on this vein a forty foot tunnel has been run the face showing a four foot breast of ore assaying 13 per cent copper and a goodly showing in silver and gold it is the intention to exploit the ground more thoroughly this spring and summer and the indications are that values will increase with greater depth mr abbott states that the group owned by himself and brother is a mile east of the mine owned by the farmington gold mining company now under lease and bond to john booan bogan of this city mr bogan has equipped the property with a small concentrator and as soon as the pipeline is completed from the water supply to the works the reduction of ore will commence it being understood that there is a goodly showing of ore blocked out in the mine upon which to begin operations in the same canyon is the mckinley group owned by a company whose principal office is evanston wyo the principal stockholders in which are I 1 kastor a prominent merchant col frank foote and banker stone of that place the mckinley is a gold proposition and some of the quartz taken from its workings is ia marvelously rich in the yellow metal assessment work has been kept up on the group and it is stated that a strong vein is exposed which carries a six inch streak of ore that fairly bristles with native gold the rock bead being a a decomposed porous quartz from which free gold can easily be washed in paying quantities the southworth boys henry and robert of farmington are working 6 a prospect in miller canyon a branch of farmington canyon and the outlook looks good to them as the breast of their tunnel which is only under cover twenty feet shows a full face of ore which assays essays 3 per cent copper and 4 in gold to the ton the boys will push development this summer patsy marley an old miner of farmington is working a promising prospect near the booan boo an mine he is running a prospect tun nel nef r which he expects to drive a thousand feet before cutting the ledge which will be at a considerable depth there are other valuable prospects in the locality mentioned and there will be considerable sid erable activity and systematic mining and development work in this section this season |
