for its fortunate owners but it is needless to claim that these thes three ethree mines were the only producers in district and nd especially so when it is stated that ther the mineralized zone covers a stretch of country six miles in length north and south and two and a half miles in width in fact scores score of mines the names of which have now almost been forgotten excepting by the earliest settler made splendid records as paying propositions and these were scattered all the way from diamond on the south to eureka on the north but with the exception of the sunbeam the eureka hill and the mammoth these early producers have given way for new f favorites av orites and now the leading mines of the district are enumerated as the swansea the south swansea the grand central the ajax the one of the most progressive and prosperous mining towns in this western country it is here that the greatest number of producing and paying mines are located the formation is lime and the ore occurs in immense chambers or zones zones and extensive workings show that the ore bodies go to tile the deep it is on this zone and grouped losely closely IL together that the leadin leading ff mines of that section are found and these are the eureka hill the bullion beck champion the cen tennial eureka cind and the gemini keystone in the near vicinity are the humbug and uncle sam the godiva the may day all producing mines and it is estimated that this portion of the district has outputted out putted or more since its first discovery the eureka hill and gemini keystone are close corp corporations rations so that it is ia not publicly known as to the amount of their dividend disbursements but these properties have paid heavily for many years the bullion beek beck has paid in divi dividends denIs to date the centennial eureka and other properties named have helped to swell the grand total to say nothing of the earnings of small propositions concerning which no records have been ke kept p t ten years ago eureka was a dirty strangling town and lacking in in almost every desired facility and essential today it has communication with the outside world by means of two railroads the rio the same facilities the two railroads also entering here with a common depot at robinson the mines of mammoth have produced something over approximately and they have paid dividends as follows ajax grand central NOV 50 and the mammoth silver city a mile or more south of mammoth has recorded substantial growth during durin the past few years and the activity in this 1 s section for the period named has been so great that more new hoisting plants have gone up in that section than all the rest of the district can boast 0 of f the swansea and the south swansea are the only dividend payers in
