Show THE NEW ANCHOR MILL HILL the new mill at the anchor mine park city which was started up a few days ago i is s described in detail as follows by the park record armed with credentials from secretary walter scott to architect john graham a record reporter visited the new anchor mill monday which started up for an experimental run tuesday mr graham took us to the top floor where a covered tram feet lono long runs to the mouth of the tunnel here is the upper ore bin feet and 15 feet deep at this writing there are over tons of ore in this bin awaiting treatment this ore will be fed in ia seven chutes located on the second floor down andon this floor are also the scales for weighing crude ore as well as aa a large blake rock breaker on the hill at an elevation of 75 feet above the mill is a gallon water tank for fire protection and boiler feeder which is fed from a pipe in the mine on the third floor down is a supply tank for the mill of gallons with a ten inch pipe leading fro from inthe the mine to the tank on the third floor down ard located three large revolving screens of different mesh inches under unde r the large rock cock breaker to classify the ore before going t down to the davis rolls which are located on the third floor with a capacity of tons daily on this floor are also between the davis and cornish finishing rolls three revolving 11 screens inches the fourth floor is devoted to the large cornish rolls with three revolving screens I 1 of different mesh for sizing purposes and from which the slimes pass into a hydraulic box and the overflow from the hydraulic box goes to the slime tables here are also located ten three compartment jigs where the ore that is thrown from the jigs is transferred to the concentrate floor on the fifth floor are two huntington mills and a large feed tank from the jigs to the Hunting tons the Hunting tons stand on an independent frame on the fifth floor an idea advanced by david keith which prevents any strain on the building here are also three heavy retaining walls to guard against jar and wrack of the building on the sixth or oi ground floor are six wilfley tables for concentrating purposes also one johnson belt table and a spiral sand pump to throw slimes back to the fifth floor from the wilfley tables the slimes pumped back to the fifth floor will go over the belt tables to the blanket tables of which there are seven 40 feet each or linear feet the instead of being elevated are carried to the basement to the separating tables for treatment irl in the engine room is a 75 horse power corliss engine and adjoining is the boiler room and a sink supplied with hot hoc and cold water for the convenience of the employed emp loyes the entire mill is well lighted and every part of the structure is modern modern and of the latest and most approved design the mill has a fronta frontage lu crp of feet and an elevation of 97 feet from the first floor to the rail on the tram entering the ore house the dimensions of the buil building diner are sixth floor feet Hunting toon floor feet for workshop and belt tables jig floor feet cornish roll floor davis roll floor runway to ore bin stairways with hand rail are completed to all parts of the mill and there has been no oversight or miscalculation in any particular it is a model mill some rich ore says the news of ely nevada has been recently uncovered in the Oha inman mine and we are informed by superintendent mcorlie that the mine never looked as well as at present A change 11 of management has been reported at the new mammoth ernest G rognon having resigned this position his hia successor being ER E H lathrop who is now in the east but who will soon return to salt lake accompanied by his family the old records of tintic gintic district complete and up to date have been restored to district recorder joseph gerber at silver city which will add much to the convenience of mining men who are interested in proper arties in this section of the state |
