Ttie. expression of the meeting last evening was that during the present year the energu s of tho association would bo directed principally to sik raising and reelinir, and when the amount of silk on hand would warrant the outlay that, proper machinery for manufacturing: silk goods would be obtained. Meanwhile Mean-while subscriptions will be solicited so as to have means on hand with which to purchase the machinery as needed. It is to be hoped that this association as-sociation will meet with general support, sup-port, as it handles a branch of home iudustry that is much needed, and, will, if properly conducted, result in great benefit to the citiieni of L'tah. The failure in the paiit, if failure there has reen, was not for lack of facilities in raising the silk but in shipping the cocoons to dillerent parts of the wor'd, from which but little money has been received in return. re-turn. This difficulty will be snr-mouuted snr-mouuted by manufacturing tho silk at home. |
