But on tho other hand, some of his supportors and friends privately say tho election must havo cost him at least half a million. A balance sheet of the items would bo interesting reading. Did Mr. Jones pay half a million merely to gratify ambition? Or did he, aa a financier, invest with tho expectation of a return and paying interest? How is it? |
