Show Xeabxy a Serious Fire. Last Saturday night one of the rooms in Mrs. Gray's boarding-house was left without an occupant for some time, there being a lamp burning inside, and the door shut. A noise was heard like the smothered report of a pistol, but no one paid much attention to it; until some time after when Mr. Woodman entered and found the room fill of smoke. The . lamp, containing the Danforth fluid, had exploded and the room was on fire. " Mr. Woodman auicklv procured water and bv prompt ness and energy extinguished the fire, but not until a number . of valuable articles and a portion of the furniture in the room was burned. We have heretofore warned the public to be careful with all burning fluids, and can only repeat our caution. |
