Senator Sehnrz remarked recently, in conversation, that the great question at issue in the election in Missouri was not tariff, but the question of amnesty and suffrage. He said that if there had been a difference differ-ence of opinion on the so-called revenue rev-enue reform alone, it wald have been compromised in the Republican State convention. He thinks there is a great sentiment in the West .n favor of a reduction re-duction of tariff, but he is not sure that it will be made the basis of a new party organization. In many districts the people are not in favor of the protection pro-tection of any industry, except that in which they are interested,: and the Senator intimated that such might be the case among the iron manufacturers of Missouri, though the late election fave no intimation of how they would vote on the question of tariff.
