Show = r OOIPITUTIONAL COMM1 TION SEVENTH DAY Wednesday April 191SS2 The convention met pursuant to adjournment President Smith in the chair Mr Winder of the committee on printing reported that the reports of the standing committee had been printed and circulated I Mr Booth moved that Luther P Tuttle member for Sanpete County be accepted and sworn in Carried and the gentleman was sworn in The minutes of Saturdays session were read and approved Mr Wells of the committee on compilation reported that the committee com-mittee had considered the articles on bill of rights right of suffrage distribution of powers on the Legislature Legis-lature on the executive department on the judicial department on impeachment im-peachment on municipal and other corporations on finance and state debt and on taxation and suggested that in about three days the committee com-mittee would be able to make a complete report Mr Hatch stated that as the committee com-mittee thought it could get through the whole of the report in three days he concluded it would take five or six days and he moved to adjourn until Tuesday next at 2 pmMr Thurman moved to take the sense of the convention on an alternative alter-native whether to adjourn until next Tuesday for a final report or adjourn from day to day and take up the partial report which may then be ready Mr Richards said that if the convention con-vention adjourned from day to day only a very limited amount of time each day could be given to the business busi-ness before then whereas if an adjournment ad-journment was taken until the report re-port is completed lengthy sessions could be held and in the meantime mean-time some of the members could be attending to their business Mr Booth opposed the amendment amend-ment offered by Mr Thurman as the committee is now unsettled on some points even of the first article and the better way would be for the committee to have time to complete their labors and report in full Mr Penrose suggested to meet on Saturday at 10 oclock Mr Boyer concluded in his own mind that from the experience of the committee for the past three days a week would be consumed by them before their work was completed I com-pleted and moved to amend the motion so as to adjourn until Thursday Thurs-day week Mr Nibley asked the chairman of tho revision committee to suggest at what time a full report could be given Mr Wells answered in about I three days Mr Sharp favored adjourning until un-til Thursday week as the labor devolving de-volving upon the committee would occupy that time MrWells moved that they adjourn until Monday at 2 oclock as at that time the work could be got into a shape suitable to make a fair report re-port It would necessitate hard labor for the committe but he was willing to work hard to consummate consum-mate the object in hand Mr Caine suggested that the better bet-ter way would be for the convention to adjourn for a time long enough to give the printing committe op nortunitv to have the renorts as amended printed complete and so reported that the constitution as presented by the committee on revision re-vision would be intelligible to every member of the convention Mr Cox favored adjourning until the first Monday in May The motion to adjourN until Tuesday Tues-day at 2 oclock was carried Benediction by the chaplain |
