Show Funeral Services I The funeral services over the re mains of the late Samuel L Evans whose demise was announced i i Sunday mornings HERALD took place from the Fifteenth War Meeting House at 1 oclock on Monday Mon-day afternoon The hal was more than packed many persons being compelled to stand some being u able to gain admission to the hal Bishop Hickenlooper of the Sixth Ward of which M Evans was a inemoer presided The opening prayer was made by C W Penrose Esq after which addresses con solator admonitory and biographi cal in their character were made by Mr Elias Morris Mr G Goddart Bishop L W Hardy Jos E Taylor Esq Mr G G Bywater Hon Wm Jennings General R T Burton Mr Wm Willes President John Taylor and President F Smith Benediction Bene-diction was offered by Counselor D H Wells while during the services the Sixth Ward choir sang a number of Sunday School hvmns to which the deceased was decidedly partial having been for some time and being at the time he breathed his Int assistant superintendent of the Sunday schools of this stake When the funeral services concluded the funeral procession formed headed by the marshal band of the Sixth Ward Sunday school at the head of which was a banner on which was inscribed a fitting tribute to the memory of the deceased The funeral cortege was very long consisting con-sisting of fortynine vehicles and nil proceeded to the City Cemetery where the earthly part of Samuel Lineam Evans was deposited and placed at rest The very large attendance at the fnneral and the cortege which followed fol-lowed the remains to the grave indicate in-dicate the unbounded respect in which the deceased was held |
