Show Impobved Stock. NVtn. C. Ry-dalch, Ry-dalch, Esq., has returned from his trip to the Fast, whither he had gone under un-der the au-pices of the Deseret Parent Society fur the Improvement of Stock, &c, the stock purchased by him arriving ar-riving by train yesterday morning. It was driven to the cattle yards in the rear of the tithing store, where it attracted at-tracted ouite a number of visitors all more or less interested in such matters. mat-ters. This importation con.-ists of twenty-six head of horned cattle, tiz., five bulls, sixteen cows and heifers, and five cows, mostly blue roan Durhams. They were purcha-ed by Mr. Eydalch in Canada West, and are owned by Hon. Wm. Jennings, Hon. Joseph A. Young, S. S. Walker, W. C. Eydalch and John Pack, Esqrs. They are considered con-sidered a very superior lot, and reflect great credit upon the judgment of the purchaser. Their cost, including freight, was between five and six thousand dollars. dol-lars. One bull, said to be only four years old, is a remarkably fine animal, and attracted particular attention. He weighed when shipped twenty-two hundred hun-dred pounds. A cow, not yet three years old, weighed fifteen hundred and ten pounds. Mr. Rydalch also brought on two fine colts: and two pigs one a Cumberland Cum-berland and the other a Berkshire, the latter, we believe, purcha-ed for Geo. Xaylor, E-rj. Mr. P.ydalch has been three weeks on his return trip, and experienced some very severe weather, especially in passing through Michigan, where the trains were so impeded with snow, that with two powerful locomotives loco-motives they could not make more than live miles an hour. Great credit is due to the gentlemen who have invested in-vested in this enterprise. It is a icp in the right direction, and the benefits that will accrue from it to the stock-raising stock-raising interest of our Territory are very great. We hope others may be induced to ;'go and do likewise." |
