Show I The marriage of John Brights youngest daughter which occurred at Torquay recentlywas in the Quaker Qua-ker form and took place in a little meetinghouse established at that place by the Friends several years ago The ceremony mas an interesting interest-ing and impressive one the nuptials being celebrated at the ordinary weekday devotional meeting of the congregation After the bride and bridegroom had seated themselves at the upper end of the building with their relatives the clerk called the meeting to order after which prayer was offered by a Mr Fox The bridegroom bride-groom then stood up and repeated the following words Friends in the fear of the Loid and in the presence pres-ence of this assembly I take this my friend Margaret Sophia Brightto be my wife promising through Divine Di-vine assistance be unto her a toying toy-ing and faithful husband until it shall please the Lord by death to separate sep-arate us The bride made a similar declaration Then the marriage certificate was produced and signed by the bride and bridegroom this act completing the ceremony |
