Show IN THE GRATE President Or ton Funeral on Thursday. New York, 25. The funeral of Wm. Or ton was, to-day, attended by a great throng of friends and admirers, including many gentlemen of distinction. distinc-tion. Alter private ceremonies at bis lato residence in tbe presence of tbe family only, the remains were carried to the church of tbe Huly Apostles, of which Orton vestryman, where tbe Protestant Epidojpul burial aer vice was read and a brief eulogium of the deceased, illustrating bis marked and singularly beautiinl character, was delivered by Wm. H Baruabaa, clergyman, on whose services ser-vices Orton attended while at Irving-ton, Irving-ton, his summer home. The altar and baptismal lunt were expensively and tastefully decked with tbe c hoi cent flowers, the spontaneous and unng-siBted unng-siBted tribute ot the Western Union messenger boyB, among whom there was none so bumble that he could not appeal with confidence to tbe generosity and justice of tbe late president. The remains were borne to tho family burial plot at Irvington, on the Hudson. Among ihe pill bearers were Senator Cjnkling, John K. Porter, Alonzo B, Cornell and Edward S. San ford. |
