Show DIED FROM FRIGHT. A teUgram published a few days ago announced that Solomon Puriy, keeper of the Harlem prison, fell dead from fright at the occurrence of a fire in one of the ceU. The particulars partic-ulars of the cose show a remarkable instance of honor in a man under a charge of crime. The cell in which the fire occurred was occupied by & woman named Kate Nugent, a victim of drink, who within a week of her release from the penitentiary, v. as sentenced to two mouths' imprisonment imprison-ment iur drunkenness. Discouraged, she endeavored to hang herself, but was prevented, and finaly set fire t her bed aud clothing. Purdy, who was talking at the time with another prisoner, started for the cell when he saw the light, and, struck with horror, fell dead. The prisoner with whom he had been talking, a man under $5,000 bail on a charge of ftdse pretences, took the keys from the dead man's body, went to ft police station and gave notice ot what had occurred, and then, returning with the officers, suffered himself to be locked up again.
