Show LETTKIl FROM CACIIIC tOU.ITr. Loo an, Cacue County, U. T., March 3rd, 1871. Editors Salt Lnl;e Herald : Your much esteemed paper has come to hand of late pretty regular, considering our present mail facilities which I must say arc entirely inadequate inade-quate to supply tho wants of the people peo-ple in this county; but a monster petition is being got up to tho Postmaster Post-master General, for a daily mail to connect with the ono at Brigham Oily. We then would feel ourselves -everal days nearer Salt Lake City and the re-it of mankind than we do now. A monster petition in also being sent to i;ougres:s praying ior a grant oi every alternate neetion of land encircled by our canals; to aid in the construction of faiit canals, and prayiug that two yelii'S, from next June, may bo granted to pay lor the other land; us it in well known that the citizens of this valley have had tin; greater portion of their crops destroyed by grasshoppers for the past (bur years. , Wo havr strong Impcs that the above named petitions will be met with a friendly spirit, and granted by the Postmaster General and Congress, as it would simply be mi net of justice to tho hardy pioneers of these western wilds, as well as to ma-luriuily ma-luriuily aid in the development of tho resources of this northern country, Tho leadiint men of this county Km-m determined nut to be Handled with the tens of IIkiukiiiiiIh of dollars already expended ex-pended in making roads ami bridges, to connect this with oilier valleys nnd settlements, but the work of improvement improve-ment goc-t steadily on, A mbalanlial Hii!e bridge, nl I cost of nearly i2,t)tl), bus just been completed across Rear River, for the connection of Newton and Clarksloa with Ihe towns and cities u litis side. Anuther bridgu is in pro gress at SuiitliScld across the same river; aud a strong effort is made to complete one across the Logan. When all this is accomplished, which we expect ex-pect bef .re the high water, then our communication will be excellent in this valley. Education is attracting much attention atten-tion at present. School-houses ate either to few or to small; and the same with our meeting-houses. Peace prevails pre-vails in our holders,- both among the red and white population. More after a while. G. L.
