Show 1 JUt fRAURNAl OmHlt81 4 Odd Fellowships teachings are calculated calcu-lated to make men good and although not a religion as known among the sectarians of the world yet i leadsmen leads-men to that height of living that has been declared to be pure and undefiled religion The order has prospered and the practice of its principles are destined des-tined to keep it for all time as it has i been for more than threequarters of a century the greatest mutual beneficial organization of the world and an example ex-ample for all other organizations to copy coPI there is one thing more than a other for the irood of the order I is I the occasional open meeting into which Kj the public may be Invited not to listen KjB td the music of the band or merely to feast the eye upon the glitter of our paraphernalia but to receive the valuable valu-able information which wellinformed representatives of its principles have to impart and also which a commun ity ought to know for the satisfaction I nothing more of being assured that though the institution is a secret one I nevertheless is worthy of public confidence dence and respectful consideration The secrets of Odd Fellowship belong be-long to Odd Fellows but the secrets vhile Important to the security of the order are not reckoned a the only stock they would be worth nothing to 9 5 the community and are worth nothing to the individual Odd Fellow only to admit him and allow him to depart and secure for him recognition when he desires it and when he needs i Odd Fellowship has much besides secrets much indeed that is distinguishing and for which itself is distinguished and the very things to which we allude modestly presented to the public attention atten-tion has brought honor and brought increase For the good of the order let the brethren make an occasion occasionally sionally on which the people may attend at-tend b 0 0 Local Lodges llystic lodge on Monday Mon-day attended to regular business and > spent some time in late residence on Sixth street and was conducted by the pastor of St Pauls church and the Rebekah lodge Pauls I to which she belonged A large concourse con-course of people were present a few 1 coure only of whom could enter the house I q is a serious mistake to have fraternal funerals at the residence the proper 4 and only place should be the lodge room The flowers were beautiful and appropriate discussed various matters to be brought before the grand lodge which meets at Boise Ida inlay in-lay Lodge interest seems to center on the classified assessment plan which will come before the grand lodge for action at its next meeting The plan is bitterly opposed by most of the Utah I lodges but is supported generally ball > b-all of the supreme lodge officials Supreme Su-preme Master Workman Tate of Grand Island Neb will be on handto represent repre-sent the classified assessment plan and the contest in the grand lodge promises prom-ises to be an exciting one The clan I briefly outlined provides that each j member shall to his shal pay according age I This of course will be very oppressive on the old members of the order who have been faithful for years and undoubtedly un-doubtedly cause many of them to be suspended because of inability to pay the increased cost I is also a radical departure from the level assessment plan and takes away much of the fraternal fra-ternal beneficiary features and places in its stead straight cold insurance which is distasteful to the true lodge man The four lodges of Salt Lake expect ex-pect to send full delegations to the meeting st Boise Eagle Gate lodge No 10 A O U W met in regular session on Wednesday Wednes-day eveninE last with a splendid attendance at-tendance and unabated interest in the work before it The J W decree was
