Earle, dated at Korti, uys : Gen, Earle wu killed in action on Tuesday. The fight occurred near the Nile, a few miles above Dulka Island. The Arab had fortified a pass and had built a small fort on tha left bank of the river. When Gen. Earle's forces reached the pass t! were subjected to a heavy fire from fist guns, which the Arabs had placed in commanding positions. Gen. Earls had no artillery, and commanded the troop to charge. It was more of ucramble than a charge, but tbe Arab wfere driven from the heights at the point of the bayonet and fell bock slowly toward the river. All that then remained to be captured wu a little fort oo the river bank. As Hie British column advanced it wu fire met by a steady and from behind land and wattlings, which composed the Arab fort, and many men of the attacking party were killed. General Earle again ordered hie men to charge, and put himulf at the head of the column, lie wu killed during this charge. The fort wu ultimately captured, but at a terrible cost.
