Show ANOTHER MUNICIPAL TICKET Which may Add and Subtract From the People's Party Business. The disaffection in the ranks of the People's party appears to be growing hourly, and the talk on the street yesterday yester-day which resulted in the appointing and holding of an informal meeting last night has taken a more defined shape to-day. Much of this feeling of dissatisfaction is. expressed by the dry , benchers, who claim to have been ignored In the nominations. nomin-ations. It ia understood that many of the residents of the Eighteenth, Twentieth and Twenty-First wards will either scratch the present ticket or vote for an entirely different one if it shall give a good representation on it. - This afternoon quite a number were found in knots on the streets, and from nearly all of those who have taken an active or interested part in the movement it was learned that an independent ticket is being arranged, containing several sev-eral of the same names as are found on the People's ticket; indeed the changes are fewer than the 1 similarities. Armstrong Arm-strong will be retained for Mayor, the Recorder and - Treasurer will not be changed, a dry bench man, who is not yet decided de-cided upon, will be put in place of Junius F. Wblls and George String-fellow, String-fellow, and possibly Judge Adam Speirs be put back ; the former for Councilor and the latter for Alderman, in which position po-sition it is generally claimed he has shown superior ability and an independence that makes him desirable. There will possibly be a few other changes, which have not as yet been determined de-termined upon, but tho above is a fair showing of the new ticket as expressed by those interested in the matter. It is thought that such a ticket would probably unite all factions of the Gentiles Gen-tiles and be ' supported by a good sprinkling of the People's party, saying nothing of the almost solid vote it would receive from the dry benchers. The name of Frederick Culmer, Esq., was men-by men-by some specially interested in this latter feature, but there are other names being considered, and no unity of feeling had developed in regard to the nominee. |
