Show That Ephraiui Matter. Editor Democrat: In your issue of March 4th appears an article headed "Religion and Rum," in which the writer would make it appear that the assistant postmaster and the postmaster's son are one and the same person. He says: "A few days ago the postmaster and his son got into a pugilistic encounter," encoun-ter," etc.. and further on, that "we will Da -this couple against any postmaster and his assistant in Sanpete county " I will here say that the gentleman ( ?) . who wrote that article must have been very wrongfully infofmed, or else lie is a willful liar. He knows that I am not the postmaster's son, and that I am not a Mormon. I have had neither a pugilistic nor any other unpleasant encounter with the postmaster. He claims that tha, usual fighting ground is in front of the postoffice. It is strange that if this pugilistic pugil-istic encounter, in which bvstanders had to interfere, took place, that I did not see t. It is also strange that the proprietor of these "reserved seats" did not see it. lne fact of the matier is that no such encounter en-counter ever took -place in front of the , postoffice during my incumbency in the office- . H. P. Larson, .Assistant Postmaster. Epiiraim, March Cth, 18S6. |
