Show THE BOHEMIAN SOCIAL CLUB Fifty Charter HIem > ers and More to be Added Its Success Already Assured An adjourned meeting of the promoters of the Salt Lake Bohemian Club was held in Olympic Hall last evening and about fifty of those gentlemen invited to become charter members of the new organization were in attendance to hear the objects of the club stated and to decide upon the question of placing their names on the Bohemian Club roster The business commenced i by the election of 11 L Scannell chairman chair-man and Edward Pike secretary after which the chairman read the objects of the club as submitted by the committee on constitution and bylaws Briefly stated these are said to be The social intercourse and enjoyment of its members I mem-bers j the placing on exhibition in its rooms of works of art in oil crayon and watercolors the cultivation of the musical literary and artistic tastes cf the members the entertainment of visiting journalists musicians actors and artists j and the giving of occasional entertainments by talent selected principally princi-pally from its own rank and file The quarters are to be furnished with all the paraphernalia of firstclass clubrooms the intention being to make them headquarters head-quarters for those desiring to pass a pleasant hour in reading music chess j I checkers or billiards By a vote of those present the initiation I fee was fixed at 15 and the monthly dues I at3 Fortytwo signatures were then placed upon the charter member list On I motion a committee consisting of Messrs Gourley Pike and Edwards was appointed I ap-pointed to select and add more names to i the list and this committee report that I already there is a sufficient number I of members guaranteed to justify the announcement that the Bohemian Club will commence operations on a successful I basis with every promise of becoming j the finest social organization of Salt Lake The remarks of Parley L Williams I Esq and other gentlemen were in a very encouraging strain and throughout the entire meeting a spirit of individual enthusiasm en-thusiasm was displayed which gives the brightest promise of success and this promise the DEMOCRAT hopes to see fully realized j i |
