Show I A REPUBLICAN STEAL I I The Name oC Mr John A Marshall I a Democrat Purloined by CClublcanH I SVLT LAKE CITT August 3188T EDITOR DEMOCRAT wish to nnnonnco the Democrats of Utah my friends and the public generally that the use of my name asa I as-a candidate on the Liberal ticket was wholly unknown to ine and without my sanction and contrary to my wishes My politics in Utah as well as in the Union are Democratic Demo-cratic JOHN A MARSHAL Some time this forenoon there appeared in L the field a liberal ticket and upon it there was one name which surprised everybody Tat name was John A Marshall Democratic Demo-cratic candidate for Councillor We are u authorized by Mr Marshall to say that the u use of his name on that ticket was I I unknown to him and was in direct di-rect violation of his principles Mr Marshall has in politics but the principles I of Democracy and such a use of his fair name is a theft of the worst kind and a stain upon his character Some lowminded I I man has sought to make it appear that Mr Marshall was not with his party when he is so heart and soul The Liberals or Kepub I lioaiiH have sought to use the name of a good true Democrat to give strength and character to their scheme I will not work There has been some intimation that Fed oral officials had something to do with this that they might make a showing in their favor at Washington One good at least will be accomplished I will show the Republicans Re-publicans in their true light and that i reality their sentiments are expressed by their organ the Tribune which said on July 26th The Tribune cannot afford to dodge any lesponsibility I was our intention to say nothing of the present local campaign We shall not say much now But it has been demanded of us which we prefer to see I elected the peoples ticket or the socalled L Democratic ticket We answer frankly wo have no choice between the two |
