But sinee I have been tip here I am inclined to think this district will rank with any of the others, and in many respects is Within the next couple of better. months snow will fall throughout the Wasatch range, and the miners now working them will gladly flock over this way, where they can work the whole wiyter without any serious inconvenience. This of itself commends it to thoie desiring to invest or locate in a good camp. Sufficient has already Isetj written to .satisfy those who carefully view all these things. But a word or two occasionally is not amiss. Among some of the prominent capitalists who have visited ns within a days are Messrs. Scofield A Abbey, owners of the first built smelting works in this camp, who are about making arrangements to start up again on a larger scale. Having plenty of motioy at their command, big things are expected, and will doubtless lx realized. The Messrs. Smith, .of Philadelphia, who have licen inspecting the Virginia on Lion Hill, Warren Hussey, the banker, of your city, Mr. Lewis, of James Lewis k Son, Swansea, and Ilenry Sewell, Ksq., of Nevada, who bos n several properties already reported for the London market, and is looking at some mines here for the smc place. The advent of these gentlemen angers well, and I can safely say they are already well pleased with what they have seen. The Pioneer and Brevoort milks are daily pounding away on the rich chloride ores, and working up to a large percentage of the assay. Among some of the most prominent mines that art being worked is the Occidcnlal, Shamrock, Little Pern,! Monarch, Virginia, Lion anl Norman, the latter being almost opposite the Lion, on Silver II ilL 1 paid a special visit to this mine a day or two sinee, and was surprised at the brilliant prospect, A tunnel of over forty feet in length and angling to the southeast has licen opened, showing large quantities of rich chloride ore, the cost of extracting which is quite smalt. The formation is of quartz, which iiidi-- ' cates a permanent mine; the floor of the tunnel is smooth. Along the face of the hill a cut has beeu made, which connecting with the tunnel, greatly improves the looks and value of the mine, and besides giving large dump-rooa place for Assorting and separating the samples. The average assay is $150, making it advantageous for milling, for the amount of work done. I know of no letter looking prospect for a big mine in the whole camp, (are has licen taken to Wave all the work substantially done, and any day we may hear tha the tniue has opened out to a great width. They are gntixfiod that the hill they are on is rich, and nil who haves visited this mine (and I am assured they numlx'r a great many) are pleased with it. It is not my province to puff or speak particularly of any .mine, but I cannot refrain when I sec something that is so apparent and alxmt which so little lias been said. The mines commend themselves, and those who mav visit them will surely lienr me out in my assertion. Mixtu. - -- Are Closing Out their Stock VV JXM.PETHt.VT Mil ITARV CoMPAW. Crow m i Oct..
