Show The e Extra X ra Mile I e Tyler Harry Contributing Writer On a sunny Tuesday morning students and faculty faculty faculty fac fac- fac- fac from Dixie College began a baton run that would ultimately end up on the Utah state Capitols Capitol's steps All AIl of the colleges and Universities in the state were involved in the run There were two batons involved One from the north started with the participants participants participants par par- from Utah State Sate University The other started at the Utah Arizona border and would J make six stops before hitting the steps of the Capitol Building The name and theme of the relay was Going the Extra Mile for Higher Education Because all of the Utah schools of higher education education education tion were involved many people had there ands hands on the two batons All AIl in all Salt Lake Community College had 25 runners Two of which were our very own Trent Kemp Student Body President and President of Utah student Association or USA U.S.A. and Judd Morgan Mortan interim President of Many reasons for the run existed but the main theme was to get the law makers in Utah to raise the salaries of Professors in the state This has not taken place for three years now in fact in some cases they have been asked to take a pay cut The run was completed Friday mourning at about 1000 AM A.M. by runners from every school and was capped off by a rally raIly on the steps of the Capita Capital Kemp was the first speaker He thanked all who had participated participated participated and read a letter that was thought up by the USA U.S.A.
