Show Naive f presumptions Dear Editor I have attended for only a short time In that time I have witnessed a few naive presumptions by college college college col col- col- col lege personnel These presumptions are based on the belief that we the students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents enjoy missing classes A recent English class of mine had assembled at 7 10 am a.m. and were awaiting the instructor when a sheepish little woman entered and half-grinning half announced You should all be happy Your teacher just called in sick Theres There's no class today The presumption was that we should be happy about missing class Obviously there is a distinction distinction distinction dis dis- dis- dis between joking about missing class and actually actually actually ac ac- ac- ac being relieved and andI I happy nappy about it To lo be sure there are some students that view college simply as an extension extension extension ex ex- tension of high school As for myself I cannot be more brief when I say I am not in high school Please respect the fact that I am paying for formy formy formy my education with my own sweat I would like to think that I left high school behind behind behind be be- hind along with the Cameros Camero's glitzy proms and the absurd lost little people To interpret this as a plea for strict or adherence to rigidity is a mis mis- take My aim is to promote the realization that some students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents want their moneys money's worth Signed David Baugh I |
