Show Grief counselors needed for Harry Potter tans fans Stacie Peart I Online Editor Harry Potter entered the lives of children of all ages in September 1998 with Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Sorcerer's Stone Almost instantly JK Rowling and her characters became a pop culture phenomenon People loved The Sorcerers Sorcerer's Stone because the story was written well-written helped kids learn to love reading and lets face it the story was just fun As the series has gained popularity in its early years there were nonbelievers nonbelievers nonbelievers non- non believers who felt that th the book was silly and just for kids I admit I was one of those non-believers non until I picked up the book and couldn't put it down until I read the last page As the books continued to gain momentum with readers there were also individuals including a fanatically religious family member of mine who felt that Harry Potter and his little wizard friends were evil with all that magic that they practiced Its It's amazing that a book could cause such a fuss but with six books and four movies being released to date Harry Potter fans are excited and saddened to be on the eve of the final books book's release which coincides with the release of the fifth movie What is troubling to tome tome tome me is not that the book will end but that I was told by a Harry Potter obsessed friend that People Magazine published an article discussing grief counseling in case Harry Potter Porter should die in Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows The article helps parents prepare to help their children cope with the loss if he does die My first th thought about this article was Is this really necessary Its It's just a book But I soon retracted that thought as asI asI asI I remembered the dozens of fan on the internet solely dedicated to Harry Potter I also began to believe in the necessity of grief counseling as I thought about my own circle of friends and family and how some might need some professional help if Mr Potter does meet his maker in the final chapters of seventh book The problem is there arc are two big theories for ending the series One possible finale is that Harry will live The other is that he will die Rowling has mentioned in interviews that characters will die she's just been really tight-lipped tight about who they are While deaths in The Deathly Hallows are inevitable the who is still a mystery and if Harry lives then Rowling could have possibly bumped off Ron or even that haired frizzy-haired precocious Hermione Rowling has even toyed with fans in interviews when asked if she killed off Harry Harry in the final battle with Lord As Asan Asan Asan an author Rowling has mentioned that she can see seewhy seewhy seewhy why there is an allure for killing off Harry As the creator of ofa a popular story book character if Rowling does kill off Harry another writer cannot come along and keep writing the series Okay I guess a writer could write some sort of lame soap opera revival i fi f j fj I I I r i A M 1 I I j. j i 11 f T s t 1 IJ fj t y Y t t III IIII I I i ett 0 r. r r J I Photo courtesy of Warner Bros I I The final chapter of the Harry Potter saga is set to be released July 21 should the title character die many children may need greif counseling or at least a tissue where Harry is resurrected to once again fight evil But lets let's flee face it another writer taking on Harry Potter would be terrible just look at the Dune series Frank Herbert wrote an imaginative book Dune and even wrote six of the novels for the series But after his death his son tried to keep the story alive when it should have just died with the original author For the Harry Potter series Rowling has worked on the characters for years and created a beginning a middle and an end to the story Rowling and her publishers should also look at other franchises and see that fans become annoyed with their favorite series if the writer publishers filmmakers etcetera keep bringing out new versions ever few years Fans are smart and they see right through the We just found this extra footage so were we're going to add more behind the scenes features and try and swindle the fans into buying the Super Awesome Extended Version of the film If you dont don't believe me go see how many versions there are of the Lord of the Rings trilogy So the odds are arc in Rowling's favor to kill off Harry Potter but the question is did she Fans will soon find out as the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows willbe will willbe willbe be released on July 21 and hopefully all of the questions will be answered the villains will be gone and Harry will live to seethe see sec seethe the end If Harry lives then kids will see good triumphing over evil but if he does kick the bucket then the obsessive readers kids and adults alike will probably need counseling And if you think that grief counseling is absurd because you dont don't know any fanatically Harry Potter fans then he proof might be in a Boston Globe article printed Sept 21 2005 entitled Young Potter readers need to talk grieve The article depicts a mother whose year old daughter was vas very distraught over the ending of the sixth Harry Potter book In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Half Prince a beloved character who has a major role in inthe inthe inthe the series dies The death comes as a shock and the book ends in a cliffhanger If the death of ofa a beloved character that is not Harry can cause so much anxiety what will happen if Harry dies in the final book The fact that the story is coming to an end is a abit abit abit bit sad but as a fan of the series Im I'm also excited to get my life back No more getting bombarded by other fans at work who insist on discussing every little phrase of the past books to try and decode the next No Nomore Nomore Nomore more cliffhangers well I hope and no more waiting for years until the next book is released I love the books but Im I'm excited to find out how it ends and then move on I admit that at first such sucha a noti notion n of grief counseling for Potter fans in mourning was ridiculous but after having a few days to think about it I believe its it's still ludicrous but that it really might be necessary for those who've forgotten that Harry is not real And while Ive I've been sucked into Harry Potters Potter's little world I can just hope like the rest of the fans that he will prevail in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows But I will not need a psychologist if he dies maybe just a few tissues |
