Show The votes are in Jeffrey Wall Contributing Writer Student Life and andLe Le Leadership announced the election results for forthe forthe forthe the 2008 2007 Executive Council March 9 in the Student Events Center on the Redwood Campus SLL was hoping for a larger voter turnout than last years year's 1100 Although SLL felt like it was a good campaign only 1079 students voted Current Executive Vice President Curtis Buyer addressed the excited and wracked nerved crowd Coming in here I shook a lot of sweaty hands Ive I've never felt so many clammy hands said Buyer of the candidates The anticipation wasn't dragged out the current executive council quickly 1 f pRE I Photo b by Rob assembled and began announcing those elected The vote for President went to Hallee Thomsen It was a tight race between Thomsen and her opponent Pauline Fonua Results Continued on page 5 j h c Voting Results Continued from page 1 Thomsen led with votes to Fonua's It was a close race and anda a tough competition said Thomsen Thomsen is looking forward to finishing her duties as a student senator until she is sworn in She plans on taking that time timeto to learn leam all that she can to prepare herself to lead the school Im excited for the changes that I 1 can make and the influence that I can have on the community college to make it the best that it itcan itcan itcan can be said Thomsen The Executive Vice President vote went to Evan Johnson Johnson was vas the clear winner with more than half the votes overwhelmed Im said Johnson He said he heis heis heis is going to start working on issues such as parking and hopes to clean up some of the classrooms on the Redwood campus Johnson will vill also work to get more classes added to the Jordan campus I Kristopher L Lundstrom will be the next Fine Arts and Lectures Vice President Lundstrom ran unopposed He said he is looking forward to bringing more great speakers and bands to the campus Skyler Sk Kevern was elected the Redwood Activities Activities' Vice President Kevern also ran unopposed Kevern hopes to make more students aware of activities and events on campus so there is more student involvement The Jordan Campus can welcome Whitney Kemp as its new Vice President I want to get Jordan more involved and I want more student involvement said Kemp Kemp hopes students will give her their ideas as to what they want brought to the campus Aaron Hildreth won the therace therace therace race against Dieter Pech for South City Region Vice President Hildreth won won with votes Pech had 11 1 oJ 11 Im very pleased with who won said Whitney Kevern current student body president She believes the new council will do a great job said this moment was bittersweet She is excited for the new council but will willbe willbe willbe be sad to leave her position Kevern feels she is leaving SL C in good hands with the new president Halle Thomsen Thomsen is determined She will work through all the hard times next year She will represent very professionally and have fun doing it said Kevern No one ran for Executive Clubs and Organizations Vice President Student Life and Leadership will betaking be betaking betaking taking applications for that position A new executive council position was just added Public Relations Vice President Students are invited to apply for this position as well Students interested in applying for either position can contact the SLL office at |
