D SL Vice President of Social and Student Activities E. E SL Vice President of Finance F. F SL Executive Secretary G. G SL Vice President of Publications Section Two Qualifications for the election of SL officers are as follows A. A Members of SL at the time of elections and during the quarter B. B Ten 10 quarter hours credit received in the quarter immediately winter quarter the SL General Elections C. C An accumulated grade point average of or better in the work completed at SL prior to the General Elections D. D Three 3 academic quarters remaining beginning beginning beginning begin begin- ning fall quarter following the SL General Elections Section Three There will be no discrimination as to sex creed or color for any SL office Section Four All current SL officers and members of the Executive Council will remain neutral and impartial during the elections unless they are running for an office Section Five All campaigning for the SL elections should be done with one major objective ALL STUDENTS RUNNING FOR AN SL OFFICE WILL MAKE THEMSELVES KNOW TO THE MAJORITY OF THE Examples are A. A Posters Candidates may place posters in every building on campus in designated aresa only No candidate will be allowed to place posters on the outside of the buildings or on the brick or cement on the inside of the buildings B. B Debates Special assemblies will be set up so that the can come to know the candidates and what their policies are Section Six All candidates must receive approval and clearance from the Elections Committee before he or she may begin their election campaigning Section Seven No candidate will be allowed to spend or have spent more than a total of forty dollars on his or her campaign Receipts of materials purchased may be requested by the Elections committee All candidates will campaign on an individual basis NO PARTY TICKETS AND NO COLLUSION BETWEEN TWO OR MORE CANDIDATES No candidate may accept help on his hisor or her campaign from outside the SL campus Section Eight Voting REDWOOD ROAD Campus Voting will start at am a.m. and end at pm p.m. in center of Quad In case of foul weather voting will be beheld beheld beheld held in College Center south cafeteria NIGHT STUDENTS Voting will start at pm p.m. and end at pm p.m. in main lobby of Rampton Technology Building DOWNTOWN CAMPUS Voting will start at am a.m. and end at 1200 pm p.m. in cafeteria There will be no active campaigning within feet of the voting booth Section Nine All ballots will be counted immediately after the voting has been closed The results of the elections will be posted the following school day Section Ten The Elections Committee as appointed from the Student Senate by the SL Executive Vice President determines the dates of the elections to be held in May of the current academic year It is of the Elections Committee with the approval of the SL Executive Council to suspend any of the separate sections of the Elections Policy for the current student- student body elections provided that they determine an alternative alternative alternative alter alter- native section of Elections Policies Any changes must be made before the campaigning is begun Section eleven The Elections Committee plans promotes and correlates al all all activities pertaining to the SL Elections The Elections committee encourages participation in the Student- Student body Elections by urging students to run for an office All candidate qualifications are reviewed in light of the SL Laws By-Laws by the Elections Committee prior to official candidacy Section Twelve If fraud is found in campaigning or orin orin orin in application or if actions are deemed inappropriate the Elections Committee and Executive Council may take necessary and appropriate action Section Thirteen The elections Committee will inform the of the upcoming SL General Election at least 15 fifteen days prior to the General Election This information will include Dates voting times and places Section Fourteen Students must be properly j registered for Spring Quarter to vote in the SL General Election Section Fifteen Any person applying for an SL office will fill out and submit an SL application form for office This includes all Senators and Senators at Section Sixteen Candidates can only apply for and actively campaign for one office in SL elections |
