Show The Sun Nows, Wed, January 20, 1988 Aurora News Kathleen Lloyd Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McCullogh have been Mr. and Mrs. Edward W aymire of Henderson, Neveda. Kresta Kaye Curtis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Curtis was recently baptized and confirmed a member of the Aurora 2nd Ward Church at the Salina Stake Center by her Uncle LaVon Curtis. Attending this special occasion for Kresta were Grandparents, Wil- liam and Kathym Bowen, Crystal, Neveda and Mrs. Wanda Mary Curtis, Aurora. Other relatives in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Curtis, both of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Harward all of Salina and Sam and Jeri Dickinson, Richfield. A large family dinner was held afterwards at the Curtis home to celebrate this special occasion. The town of Aurora was saddened by the death of Eugene Stanley who passed away on Friday, January 1 5th. Funeral services for Mr. Stanley were held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Salina Stake Center in Salina with burial in the Aurora Cemetery. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sorensen during this past Mr. week was their Robert Maxwell of Salt Lake City. Also visiting with the Sorensens for an afternoon this past week was their grandson and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Kade Huntsman Iso of Salt Lake City. son-in-la- -- - Axtell News Riila Dee Sorenson - 529-345- 3 Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Nielson spent their weekend in Las Vegas, Neveda visiting. Matt Long, son of Glenna Long was ordained to office of a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood in the Aurora 2nd ward Church on Sun- January day, 17th. Mr. and Mrs. Milen Torgersen are very happy to be the proud grandparents of this years first baby of the 1988 year, bom at the Sevier Valley Hospital. Their new grandson was bom on January 5th and his name is Garrett D. t, son of Deran and Cheryl Bosshardt of Redmond. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ward Forsyth and family during this past week were their sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Forsyth and children of Brigham Boss-hard- City, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Forsyth of the Salt Lake City area. Just a reminder for all the Aurora 1st ward Primary children that on Saturday, January 23rd at 12:30 their will be a super activity held at the Aurora City Park where we will have fun doing snow sculptures and having refreshments. Reverend Medford Hutson will conduct services each Sunday as follows: Worship Service, 9 a.m. Sunday School, 10 a.m. The meetings will be held in the building south of the Gunnison Valley Bank. The Richfield Church was started 21 years ago under similar surroundings by Rev. Hutson. Rev. Hutson is one of the most after speakers in the Sou- sought thern Baptist Convention. He now serves as president of the Richfield Chamber of Commerce. His family includes his wife, of 39 years, Dorothy; three sons and one grandchild. We want the church to be part of the community, and to make a difference in improving the community, and make it a better place to live, Rev. Hutson concluded. Betty M ellor. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bown visited Thursday and FYiday in Logan with their sons David, Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Brent Bown and Daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bartholo- mew visited Saturday in Orem with Mr. and Mrs. Clayton. They enjoyed lunch, played games and watched a movie. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harrop visited Friday and Saturday in Ogden. They visited with Anns father Curtis Hislop, Richards father Royal Harrop and also with their children Kandy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Newman and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Robin Harrop and family. Michael and Elizabeth Klee-bergare the proud parents of a baby girl bom on January 6th. She is the couples first girl and second child and will be named Kristen Sue. Elizabeths parents and sister from Tucson, Arizona have been here visiting. Her sister stayed to help out for a while. Ronald and Kelly Newman returned Sunday from an exciting week in Hawaii. They accompanied Kellys parents Kent and Camille Larsen and grandparents Evan and Mildred Johnson of Manti on the trip. LaPreal Olsen was in Salt Lake over the week end to visit with her sister Jelene and husband Dick Bamum of Colorado Springs who were there for the funeral of Dicks father. They visited at the home of another sister Maxine and husband Pau-lo- s Peterson. They took LaPreal out to dinner Saturday night in honor of her birthday which is January 19. Dean Anderson also celebrated his birthday January 19. It was Tammy FYandsens 18th birthday on January 11. Happy Birthday wishes to the three of them. Stella Lee Jensen enjoyed a day of visiting in Ephraim Tuesday afternoon with mom, Stella Anderson. More than twenty persons attended the ward temple night Thursday evening and enjoyed a get together afterwards at the Norman Stanley News Redmond Johnson - Tammy Norman Eugene Stanley, age 70, passed away on December 15, 1988 in Richfield, Utah. He was bom in Nephi, Utah on July 25, 1917 to William Leroy and Betty Memmott Stanley. He married Sabra Ruth Allred on June 4, 1940 in Aurora, Utah. The marriage was later solmnized in the Manti IDS Temple. She passed away in 1976. Norman was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was active in the LDS Church. He is survived by 2 sons and 2 uaugiuers: Kenneth Newell Stanley, Sigurd; Willis Leroy Stanley, Kemmerer, Wyoming; Mrs. Don (Eunice) Despain, Axtell, and Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Hansen of Richfield. Seventeen grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. One .brother, Leroy Nephi and two sisters, Staney of Julia Bean and Bettie Beach also of Nephi. Funeral services were held on January 19th in the Salina Stake Center with burial in the Aurora Cemetery under the direction of Warren R. Jensen. Funeral services were held for Mary Baxter Nation. She was born November 28, 1907 in Gunnison, Utah to James S. and Mary Christensen Baxter. She was the youngest of ten children. She attended Presbyterian Church and was educa.ed in local schools She orked at a variety of jobs in Gi n n, son and Salt Lake City. She married Arley Gilbert Nation at Boulder City. NV, and lived in Utah all of her life, and in Gunnison since returning in 1941. She and her husband operated a tavern and sporting Bud's goods store for many years, until their retirement. She was a member of the Gloria Chapter No. 19. of the Order of Eastern Star, in Richfield. Survivors include one daughter, Frances N. A delightful evening was enjoyed Wednesday evening by the Artista Club at the home of Doris Jensen. Barbara Sanderson took them on a tour of the Scandinavian Countries with slide films, momentos and her Hans knowledge of the area. Christen Anderson (portrayed by Nancy Jensen) gave his story of the Ugly Duckling. William (Diana Spencer) Shakespear gave the story of Hamlet as the group visited the Hamlet Castle. Edward Grieg (Richard Christensen) played one of his piano selections. Julia and Riila Dee Sorenson are the members from Axtell.
