Millard County Sheriffs officers and Jeep Posse began searching for the man and called out the Sevier Sheriff and both Sevier Jeep Posses Tuesday after Halseys dog was found about six miles east of Scipio. Along with the dog, officials found spent shotgun shells and a large quantity of blood. Two searchers on motorbikes, riding along the west fence, discovered the body and Halseys shotgun some 15 miles northwest of Salina, about three miles south of Scipio Lake, and six miles from the spot where the dog was found. Information pieced together from investigating officers and searchers indicates that two young men, who were arrested for leaving the Salina Texaco without paying for gasoline several days previously, are prime suspects in Halseys death. The two, William L. East-woo23, and James Earl Smith, 21, left the Texaco and were apprehended in Scipio. They were returned to Salina and later taken to the Sevier County Jail in Richfield, where they spent several days in jail and their vehicle was impounded. The pair was released Monday morning, although their vehicle remained impounded in Richfield. They were seen hitch hiking by a passing motorist on the Scipio road south of the Maple Grove turnoff about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Halsey apparently picked up the two young men, who persuaded him to buy their impounded vehicle. They went into Scipio, where Halsey got some money, then left. The two men, and Halseys pickup truck, are being sought by police. Capt. Pete Hayward, Salt Lake County Sheriffs Department homocide specialist, and a specially-traine- d and equipped crew, were on their way to N.S.
