But just two years ago, while reading our local newspaper, I found an article asking for new members in Sevier My daughter had asked County a year earlier about and I promised her if she took good care of her puppy for one year I would think about it. We went to the address given on enrollment night, and enrolled in a rabbit project. Later, we added sheep, poultry (laying flock) and foods and nutrition, phase one, to our list of projects. We formed a club Pals n Projects, and hope to have some new members this year. We are now in our third year of and are active in the Junior Teen Council and as a leader. The4-program has so much to offer. There are bout 75 projects available, with a field that will interest everyone in the family. The activities are fabulous. There are numerous camps, workshops, demonstrations, and contests to be shared on a local, county, or state level. Some are combined. We have met a lot of new people and gained uncountable ideas on making even better. Achievement night is always special and so is Leaders Banquet. We have worked on Global Connections projects this year helping children gain use of their facial muscles which dont work in a third world country, sent toys and clothes to orphanages in Mexico, sent gar 4-- 4-- H 4-- H 4-- H den seeds to Romania and Africa with the help of people like Salt Lake Citys Sister City Alliance, and worked on gathering car seats for the Utah Highway Patrol. We are now working on saving one million pull tabs from soda pop cans for WOW to build a new Ronald McDonald House. While being a working parent, people say there just isnt time for the fair! But every year we find ourselves with or without entries over at the fairgrounds admiring everyone elses handicrafts, baked goods and livestock. The talents are endless as we venture on through the fairgrounds to hear the beautiful music and see the fashion show. The play is also a very valuable find for us. Record keeping helps us understand exactly how much it costs to keep our animals and our new and old found projects. It is rewarding to reread each years record book and I cannot say compare. about It has truly enough good been a blessing our lives. Signups 4-- are now starting for new members and leaders. Roger Taylor is a retired Utah Highway Patrol sergeant who served in Salt Lake, Sanpete, Sevier and Carbon counties during his career. While Taylor was with the Department of Public Safety he received the Outstanding Service Award and participated in the Police Olympics. Following his UHP retirement, Taylor served as Transportation Director for North Sevier High School He now lives in Aurora where he is active in coaching and participating in several sports. The four former Athletes of the Year in their respective sports academic year during the 1962-6- 2 include Roger Taylor, Aurora, Track and Field; Gordon Loveless, baseball; James Marshall, football; and Lafe Parrish, wrestling. Two others Larry Dahlin, basketball, and Grant Holdsworth, tennis, are unable to attend the ceremonies.
