She has lived in the Gunnison Valley all her life and has been active in her church, community and Temple Work. Her children are Madge (Vernon) Peterson, Clearfield; Alice (Merrill) Peterson, Cedar City; Vernon (Renee) Bouvang, Bountiful; Fay (Merrill) Hampton, Redmond. Diabetesglaucoma screening set for Nov. 7, in Richfield The Central Utah Chapter American Diabetes Associations Awareness Fair and Glaucoma Screening will be held November 7, at Red Hills Middle School, Richfield, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Keynote speaker of the event will be Dr. Richard B. They were married in Loa, Utah on October 21, 1932. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. They spent their first years of married life in Wayne County, and later moved to Mayfield where they still make their home. Home-canne- d meat can be used for quick stews and soups, shredded for burritos or sandwiches, or used on winter camping trips, said JoAnn Mortensen, Utah State University Extension Home economist. With a U.S. Department of Agriculture (US DA) approved recipe, you can use beef, venison, pork, lamb, veal or bear. Home canning meat is a way to take advantage of good buys of meat, especially if you have limited freezer space, said Mortensen. You do need to use a pressure canner to home-ca- n meat, she added. She said there is a difference between a small pressure cooker and a larger pressure canner. Pressure cookers should NOT be used as pressure canners. Meat is classified as a low acid food. All low acid foods must be pressure canned for food safety reasons.
