Phone News Items ' 528-311- 1 DWR offers Sanpete communities receive monetary awards wildlife cookbook The Ut2h Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has published a wildlife cookbook titled, A Taste on the Wildsidc. It sells for $5 and is available at all DWR offices. It contains many recipes for game submitted by DWR employees. Funds from the sale of the cookbook will be used to renovate the historic DWR building at the Utah State Fairpark, SLC. I' Maplcton, Price, Cedar City, Murray and Enterprise won top honors this week at the Utah Community Progress awards banquet in Salt Lake City. In addition to the $300 State Awards received by these five communities, another six cities walked away with $300 first place progress awards including Gunnison, Sandy, Springvillc, Moab, Panguitch, and Midvale. Phone News Items 529-783- You 9 Fifty One Years and Counting A former Salina man, Joe Segar, recently received his 50 year pin at the fall meeting of the Utah Elks Association held at Richfield Lodge 2420. He also was awarded a certificate of achievement from his lodge. Brother Joe Segar has been a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for 50 years, and received his 50 year pin from New counselor for Manti Temple presidency Harold R. Johnson, who has been serving as a supervisor and scaler in the Manti Temple, has been called to be 2nd Counselor to President Garth P. Monson. He was named to this position following the untimely death of 2nd Counselor Phillip Smith. Clark Grccnhalgh was retained as 1st Counselor to President Monson. Johnsons wife, Lola, was called as an assistant matron to Temple Matron Shirley Monson, along with Marjorie Grccnhalgh, who was also retained. The Johnsons are now making their home in Fairvicw. Joe joined the Elks in 1942, in California, and later became a charter member of the Richfield Lodge in 1969. He moved to Salina in 1968, where he was active in the community, joining the Sevier County Sheriffs Jeep Posse in 1970. When the North Sevier Sheriffs Jeep Posse was formed, he was a charter member and was elected the first commander. Presently Joe and his wife make their home in Kingston, Utah during the summer months, and spend the winters in St. George. R. Scott Phillips, managing director, noted that audience and critical acceptance of this seasons productions were exceptional.
