A special family gathering was held at the Gunnison Senior Citizens Center. A delicious dinner and thanks was given to their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother for all the special things she has given and done for her family. Special letters came from a granddaughter Barbara Bassett living in Virginia, also from a Grandson Elder Reggie Peterson serving a mission in California. Attending was children Madge and Vernon Peterson and children, Clearfield, Alice and Merrill Peterson and children of Cedar City, Vernon, and Renee Bouvang and children of Bountiful and Fay and Merrill Hampton and children of Redmond. They was also honored to have aunts, uncles and cousins, Etta and Mariel Hansen, Steven Hansen of Centerfield and Arilla fPssr i: Elma Bouvang Bouvang of Gunnison. It was an honor to have them join us. The Fire Department has 21 dedicated men who spend many hours in training. All firemen carry pagers and are on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The firemen keep our equipment in top shape, as we found out when we were called to Gunnison to help with a large fire in their city. Our men did an exceptional job, as Chief Maxwell -- S'"'',,, Harmon Oglesby traveled to Louisiana to attend the 100th birthday party of his mother, Mrs. Ourella Oglesby on December 2, 1991. He reported that his mother had a wish to ride on the fire truck and this wish was granted by members of the Verda Volunteer Fire Department, who led a parade in her honor on that day. It was noted that she is the only descendant surviving of the Lameness family. She had eight children, 17 grandand children, 36 9 great-gregrandchildren. She still lives by herself in her own home.
