New Horizons is a nonprofit organization serving all of our six county area and beyond, with assistance to those finding themselves in a violent, abused, or homeless situation. The 25th anniversary of the Mormon Miracle Pageant will continue through Saturday night. Large crowds have been expected at the pageant this year because this year will be the last year of the pageant as it has been in the past. The script is presently being rewritten under direction of the LDS Church First Presidency in Salt Lake City. The new script will focus more on the Savior and His mission. The present pageant has been viewed by more than 2 million people during the past 25 year, and tells the Mormon story of faith. Included are trials and tribulations, persecution and perseverance. It also contains record of the settling of the Sanpete Valley. Quig Nielsen A teenage girl a little over sixteen was the first school teacher in Utah. In October, 1847, just three months after the arrival of the pioneers in the Valley of the Great Salt Lake, Mary Jane Dilworth opened school in the Old Fort with nine students. The young miss taught her students in a small round tent on the west side of the south extension of the old stockade. Seats were made from pieces of logs and a small camp table served as a desk. The pageant celebrates its 25th year - as well as the final year for the , present script. Pageant committee members say the pageant will continue in years to come - but with a new script.
