Friday of last week saw one of the most interesting games of the season played by the Wasatch academy from Mt. Pleasant and the N. S. H. S. The two teams were about the same size and both seemed to have an equal amount of fight. The first half slipped by without any injuries to either team and they battled back and forth through the field. The Salina team threatened to score several times but were unable to cross the line on account of a little hard luck. The boys fumbled and were brought to a loss. Then Wasatch punted a long distance up the field. The Salina boy3 recovered the ball and started through an open field run and came within ten yards of making a touchdown. Had it not been for their safety man, Salina would have scored. The second half of the game was just as interesting as the first. The Salina team made good headway with long end runs but it seemed impossible to score. Wasatch secured two touchdowns, one immediately after the other by simply good luck. The game ended with a score of 13 to 0, in favor of Wasatch. This game was said by the onlookers to be one of the most interesting game 3 played by the high school. The lineup was as follows:, Wallace Poulson, the clever quarterback and captain of the team; Leath Rasmussen, halfback; Lyle Gates, right halfback; Rex Jensen, fullback; LeRoy Heath, center; Merrill Smith, Woodrow Herbert, Homer Thompson, Leo Murguards; Lee Christensen and tackles; phy, Stanley Burgess, ends. High School Opera. Plans for the annual school opera are now being formulated. Mr. Wright is making an extensive investigation into this problem, and he is working diligently to secure an opera which , Greater Salina will suit the conditions of our school, that will be a benefit to the students and that will please and delight the public when it is presented. There are five plays that Mr. Wright is now conBells mf Capissidering. They are: The Fire Prince, trano, College Days, Girl, and Robin Hood Incorporated. All of these operas are interesting and when one is definitely decided upon, it will be the best that cart he found. Sun-Bonn- et To Present Play. Lau Phi Epsilon is a very active club of North Sevier. The members are enthusiasts and the instructor, Miss Brockbank, is intensely interested. A one-aplay, which will be presented on the 25th of October, is now under way for presentation to the student body and the public. This play, Engaged for a Month, is a charming lltlle drama of modern life. A dashing young man, Rodney, loses his sweetheait, but in a very exciting pei'.od, he gct3 acquainted with another beautiful young girl, and wdl love, drama and action are all found in this little play. With such enthusiastic interest in dramatics in North Sevier, it ought to produce a group ct -- rf talented players. Miss Rhea Ciane left for Salt Lake City last Sunday, where she will visit with her parents, Mr. and Mis. J. II. Crane. Thursday evening, after the game with Wasatch, a luncheon wa3 served by the advanced Home Economics class. The Wasatch football men were the guest3 at the luncheon. The lunch- eon was appreciated very much and strengthened the friendship between Wasatch and North Sevier. One hundred per cent of the North Sevier high school teachers received their membership cards for local, state and national organizations of, the education association. They Not long ago the executive head of a towns lending civic organization, and the owner tnJ publishtr of the largest newspniH-rhad called to their attention the fact that among such other things, grass was growing in the sidewalks and cutbs of their business district. They laughed and said, Well, I guess that wont keep any business out of towns." In the same month the officials of another city were reminded that thev had no parks or playgrounds for youngsters or grown-upand they replied, Oh, that doesnt mean anything; we have plenty of other thing? and a place to play wont keep factories from coming here. About the same time another community was warned that lack of interest in their community, shown by so many citizens, might prove costly. They said, Ha, ha. What has that to do with it as lftng as we have a chamber of commerce with money and plenty of pull? A large industrial concern, in the final analysis of two accented towns, chose the other in piefcrence to town No. 2, because the report on my desk shows said town had no recreational facilities for employees to whom five j million dollars would be paid annually. In this afternoon's mail there is evidence that because a survey of town No. 3 showed the population 72 per cent negative civically, the town was refused a donation of ?250,000 which it had asked of a large foundation. j As long as citizens cf a community refuse to profit by the experience t of others as long as they wont be tclcl or appreciate the trdling, just that' lorg will these tov.rs stay as they are, failing to get new business and allowing the business they have to go elsewhere. He didnt know the gun was loaded, He didnt stop, look ami listen, are famous epitaphs. Now, as far as many towns are concerned, you can add, We never thought about that. Everyone playing at recess is the motto of the Salina grade school. The smaller children have been divided into groups and placed under the supervision of a committee chosen from the upper grades. It is the duty of these committees to plan games and lead the particular group in these games. The present committees are prepared to start Monday and will supervise all recesses during the week. New committees will be appointed each week. The larger girls are looking forward to enjoying this new plan as well as making the recess periods worthwhile for the children of the lower grades.
