Do you believe in a bunch of old tales about lightning about bow ita attracted by cats or the warmth of cattle... bow it never strikes o same place twice... or how its liable to tarn milk sour? Lots of people often do but theyre wrong. Dad Hawkins inspired this column today. Hes really studied up on lightning since bis own cow barn was struck that time. Trouble is, most of ns don't in-th- know half enough about the subject, Dad aaya. And about half of what we do know ia false! From where I sit, Dads statement applies to a lot of things besides lightning. Too many people think they know their neighbors wrong when he votes for his candidate instead of theirs. Some people even resent our right to enjoy a friendly glass of beer if and when we choose. Opinions based on misinformation and prejudice, instead of being grounded on true facts can cause more damage than lightning ever did. oe tft(aAj Copyright, 1952, United States Brewers Foundation n, |
