May 8th, a mock search and rescue mission was carried out by members of the North Sevier Sheriff's Jeep Posse. An old model Chrysler was BORROWED from Homer Christensen to make the scene realistic. It was placed in a shallow wash just south of the reseeding area at Mud Springs. Accident victims were placed inside and each had a variety of injuries. It was up to the Jeep Posse members to carry on the needed first aid at the scene and transport the injured to the hospital or a waiting ambulance. Everything .went along fine, but due to the late hour (midnight), it was decided to leave the old auto until Saturday morning. During that one day the old auto was left in an obscure place, a thief or thieves visited the site, pulled the auto from the wash, stole all four wheels and tires, broke the windshield and practically made the auto useless to its owner. Mr. Christensen planned to use the wheels and other parts for a project, so what he had left was of no value. The irony of the situation is that here were 1 1 men spending their time to learn the techniques of first aid and rescue, and the victims donating their time to the cause, and the thieves following them around to "pick the remains. Reminds you of a vulture waiting for someone to die. It will cost the Posse members some $200 to replace the parts stolen from Mr. Christensens auto a fairly expensive training session to learn how to save peoples lives.
