Show MMMMMH fresh powder with more dropping out of the sky all the time even made us forget the possibility of getting snowed in. Visibility was not very good even with goggles on so Von Trips and 1 took some marker flags up the hill to highlight the turns on our high speed run. Wouldnt you know it, just as soon as we did that the weather broke and we could see perfectly! It was so good after that that even The Witch turned em loose, but he was skiing under a handicap, or so he told me. Yes, youve guessed it, he was using Von Trips skis and boots since our erstwhile had once again cottoned on to Ted Buetlers equipment. I think its all a conspiracy to have us believe Von Trips really does have trouble with those $5 boards. I guess the only way to prove it is to try them out for myself. I dunno, maybe Ill just believe their story and keep my neck intact! The new snow gave the Southern Utah ski season a reprieve. Im sure we will be able to ski all through the Easter weekend, so come on, you city bound skiers, come up and take advantage of the snow while the going is IIUIllJI,. vwv ; Ktk$ mWWVWWVVWVVWWWWW The first signs of spring began to manifest themselves on our ski hill last Saturday. For one thing, the snow had settled several inches plus the fact that it was also softer and wetter than usual, but what really convinced us was the sight of a porcupine taking an afternoon stroll across the hill! It could be that spring skiing is more hazardous than we thought, like who wants to land er cn a porcupine? UTAH MINING ASSOCIATION "From the earth comes an abundant life for all" Not many skiers turned out, we are sorry to say, but the few that did enjoyed ideal conditions under sunny skies. We figured that people didnt know what they were missing, otherwise we wouldnt have been able to move cn the hill for skiers. In spite of all this extra skiing room, this writer found himself touching wingtips so to speak with the Mad Bomber on one particular run. I dont know quite how it happened but suddenly Bob and I were skiing just too close for comfort. We baled out awfully fast and the last time I saw the Bomber he was crashing his way through a cluster of oak trees. I was laughing so much I didnt see a small tree directly in the path of my own skis. How did I go about missing it? Well, lets just say that I went over it on one ski in a very unorthodox manner, still laughing and without falling! We will all miss Bob when he takes up his new post in Nevada; not only is he a very enthusiastic member of the Ski Association, but he is a very fine person and great fun to ski with. I think that is the opinion of all the people who have skied with him the past few years and we ail wish him and his family lots good. Now if you will just cast your minds back to last Sunday, you will recall that it was quite stormy and snowing harder than you know what. Of course, nobody would even think of skiing on a day like that nobody but The Duke, Von Trips and The Witch, that is. Yes sir, we skied all day long through that snow storm and you know something?
