Youre Doing Fine Oklahoma Everyone who was able to attend the Middle School production of Oklahoma would probably consider it a success, but few realize just what a tremendous accomplishment it was. The most marvelous aspect of the show was not the final production, but everything that went into it. The show was produced by the kids, most, including several leads, as young as sixth grade, and in only six weeks. It was a fantastic experience watching these young people be given considerable responsibility. Besides the hundreds of hours of practicing lines and songs and dances, students designed and produced the programs; made costumes; built and set up scenery; played piano; worked lights and sound; prompted; ushered and even babysat the children of the adults involved. The whole school was involved, besides the 150 seen on stage. Even the teachers worked. Besides rescheduling their classes around practices and working with kids to catch up work missed they pitched in everywhere; building scenery, helping with costumes, being at practices, loading guns, producing programs and posters, and I never heard a complaint. The excitement and enthusiasm was choice, but the result was even more choice, We saw students grow and mature beyond any expectat- . ions. Then we watched as a tremendous thing happen as many: parents put their full support in. Besides the fantastic help from Karren Glover, who choreographed and taught all the dances, Elza Marshall who worked with the crew to design, build, paint, and move the scenery, Rochelle Erickson and Carolyn Sorenson, who put in hundreds of hours practicing and playing music, and Chris Gless who stepped in to help with the vocal music, there were dozens of others like Mrs. Merchant with her helpers yho put on make-up- , Madge Wilspn, who d dozens of hairpieces, the high school who not only donated pre-style- arid first in eight events.
