Beaver Hales4th, Brett Sorensen 2nd, Jake Bastian 2nd, Wes Andreason 6th. Although Chappell feels they will still do well at state some of the wrestlers are starting in a hole that should have finished higher in Region. And this was disappointing to Chappell as some were ahead, way ahead and then lost a match. Many others were showing freshman type mistakes. Some others didnt shoot or were one move behind and they lost. The state tournament will be this Friday and Saturday in Richfield with matches starting at noon on Friday. North Sevier is in the tougher southern region and they hope this has taught them something. This week the team will work on aggressiveness and getting their confidence where it should be for the last match of the year. Overall Chappell felt the tournament went well and as far as the mechanics of the tournament he took second and North Sevier finished tourth. The following are the team scores h die region wrestling tournament held u Sahna last weekend: Delta 240, Beaver 151, Richfield 118.5, Salma 117, Hurricane 1 16, Millard San Juan 30, Kanab 28, South Sevier 20. The tournament had both positive and negative outcomes for many of the wrestlers at North Sevier. Coach George Chappell felt as though they could have finished ighcr with additional effort and some breaks. He explained that wrsM'ing with intensity is hard to le.k h and sometimes a tournament like tins a ill bung on the intensity iieeik d m the state tournament. He commented that the crowd saw a lot of good wres-tlinThere were not a lot of pins and kids were evenly matched and this gave a lot of good wrestling he explained. Delta finished with winning the most matches but they didnt dominate all of the championship rounds as they usually have done. They lost quite a few, but not as many as we wanted them too as we should have beat them tw'icc in the final matches he said. Robert Bagley was named as the outstanding wrestler in the middle weightdivision, 130 to 145 pounds. He just did an outstanding job in all of his matches and the coaches recognized his efforts. Come support us at state this weekend, said Chappell. It should g. be great. Wolves make important win over Kanab Cowboys onFriday v n th Sev icr had a good basket-- ter. He finished with 29 points total for the game. During the third quarter North Sevier pushed the lead out to 22 points. The intensity on defense also was great along with good offensive pressure. Kanab tried a box and one defense on Nathan but North Sevier adjusted theiroffense and hurt Kanab. It was much the same in the fourth quarter with everybody getting to play and into the game. Gladwell explained that they havent been able to do this much this season. The The final score was last time these two teams met the This was a much score was 57-5closer game as Kanab has more height and this bigness underneath hurt North Sevier last time. North Sevier made the adjustments with help this game and changed the outlook. Lance finished the game with 29 and Nathan with 23. Heather Mason, their leading scorer was off as she scored only six points. Courtney Christensen had 18 and Rachel had 10 points in the game to be the only double figure scorers for North Sevier. NS started the game with a quick le.id controlling Piutes 63" post pLver She is big and talented and tl e ho.-- t post player we have played this year said Gray. At half NS was ahead 25-2- 6 and e I'" 4 . t Jy was a game where everybody contributed to the outcome. Especially on defense. Tuesday the team will travel to North Sanpete and then on Friday they will go to Hurricane. Gladwell felt that this will be a tough week. North Sanpete has not won a lot of games this year but they have played well and had many close. They played Manti to a double overtime before they lost and Manti is rated number one in the state. They are tough on their court said Gladwell. Hurricane is tied with Beaver for first place in the region so they will also be tough. Hurricane lost to North Sevier the last time here so revenge will be on their minds. They are beatable but they will be a lot tougher on their floor. They have a 69 center and two hot shooting guards. If we play with intensity and enthusiasm like we did last time we can beat them, stated Gladwell. The three pointers from the guards hurt us last time so we will have to make some adjustments here. A with Piute so it was a close game but we just couldnt match up their with the taller post player. NS did well at the free throw line again this week. There was also a balanced rebounding effort except Piute got the defensive boards and the edge in this category. NS also controlled the turnovers and this was a help but we just were not able to score hitting only 32 percent and this is what lost the game for us, said Gray. The JV won their game 49-2Matchup is one of the main problems in the games we lost this year and this Piute team was no different. This Saturday NS will travel to Hurricane for their game. Hurricane lost to Salina by 1 1 points in their last match up but are really coming strong and so they will be hard to beat They have some height that will be hard to contend with but they are beatable said Gray. 4.
