Bet into Glib of Bull II 11 11 Betwixt and Seen Big Time Friday Night Next Friday evening and continuing into the night the Salina Lions club members, aided by visiting Lions from Ogden, Salt Lake, Payson, Midvale, Mt. Pleasant, Gunnison and Milford, will stage one of the greatest celebrations ever known to Salina. This night has been chosen as the time when the local organization will be duly presented with its charter and Friday night will be known as "charter night. Not only are the members of the Salina Lions club, one of the new ones to join the international association, but Salina and her citizens in the immediate settlements are looking forward to one of the biggest events and one of the "livest" bunch of Lion boosters that ever entered the town. The many committees that have been woiking overtime to make the event long to be remembered are "setting pretty" and when Friday rolls around everything will be in readiness for the "big doings. The invitation committee estimates that between three and four hnudred will attend the banuet and the big dance that is to follow later in the evening. ls decision. coui Tn this fight the Auto Club of Utah has been seeking only thi privilege of using a designation des ciiption of its business, said Mr. Woodruff. There is no reason that I have been able to fathom why a competing organization should not be formed where one already erganiz-- . has failed to function satisfactory as has been the case here. Th Utah State Automobile association attempted to show that ithrd been using the name Auto Club of Utah when as a matter of fact it had failed to make use of it at al for several years past. Admittedly considerable mail comes to Utah addressed to an auto club but this is not expressly intended for any particular oiganization but ,is merely inquiries for touring data. The new organization will be as fully equipped as any to supply the desired information. The Scenic Highway association in building up the Auto Club of Utah will ask the support of the people as an independnt organization which is being formed to fill a need long felt in this state, namely a touring unit which will furnish data which will be impartial and to the best interests of the state as well as to the The Lest interests of the tourists. club will endeavor to show tourists as much of Utah as possible during their sojourn here and to this end will provide them with maps and data as to roads and accommodations which will take into consideration their comfort and enjoyment as well as the states interests. The need for a separate touring organization has become more apparent in the last few years as many sections of thee state have felt themselvs poorly represnted in the then existing association. It was to fill this need that the Sceenic Highway association and now the Auto Club of Utah were formed and it is with this in mind that support will be solicited for the latter organization from all sections of the state, rroprirH whpi j j 2 j j 2 J $ $ $ WIIY WE ARE LATE Broken parts on the linotype machine, which sets the type for the Sun the inability to get supplies at first hand and the late arrival of an expert machinist, are the causes as- signed for the late issue of the News. Announcement follows the decision recently made by Judge Chris Mathison of the third district court permitting the Scenic Highway interests to incorporate a separate touring bureau under the name of the Auto Club of Utah. Automobile State Utah The association and W. D. Rishel sought to enjoin the scenic highway association from using the auto club name in order to secure the monopoly of its use for itself. Rishels bureau filed with the secretary of state on a score of trade names which it claimed right to use exclusively with the apparent purpose of forestallig the incorporation of the Auto Club of Utah by Mr. Woodruff and associates. Consequently when these papers for incorporating the club came before II. E. Crockett, secretary of state, the Utah state association vigorously protsled the granting of a charter but after a full hearing Mr. Crockett overruled the protest and granted the shartr. Thereafter injunction proceedings were brought in the district court and a decision recently handed down Judge Mathison decided in favor of of the Scenic Highway association interests and another victory was gained in the fight to build up a touring body which will be representative of the entire state The court denied Bill Rishel the exclusive right to use the wcid Utah on the ground that t was a geogiaphical designation and aso denied exclusive rights to use the words automobile association or clu i as this n erc-ldesignated the nature of the business engaged in. The re- signed suit of the organization in this city, though the club is still yet in the cub column, has shown a remarkable influence in the way of boosting and since its organization activities in civic building and other matters pertaining to the good of the city and all of Southern Utah, has grown rapidly and today Salina has one of the most active, ambitious and eager set of Lions to be found in the United States. Not only has the interest grown since the organization of the Lions club here but when the charter is duly presented, the good work will be continued, but with much greater force and enthusiasm. The various ideals which Lionism fosters will be foremost in the hearts of every member of the Salina club. Civic civic pride, a helping hand, loyalty, advancement in educational lines and hundreds of other good things will be the objects to work for. Tha local organization, though young, is pepping up and in due course of time the roars from the members of the club in Salina will be Ijeard far and near. The local members are not only planning on a big time at the charter presentation festivities, but are making elaborate preparations to entertain everybody at a big dancing party following the banquet. For this occasion special music has been secured and everybody attending will be guaranteed the best time they ever had. The dance will be held at the j Salina Opera House and the banquet and program at the meeting house just west of the White House hotel. The Royal Neighbors were the guests of Mrs. G. A.
