Show The Salina Sun, Iibruary 26, 19.6, Birds Eye View of Sports Lefter to Editor 60 East Main Street THE SALINA SUN Salina, Utah Telephone Dear Editor: 529-367- 1 The Salina Emergency MediTechnicians (EMT) have been used by many during the months since the beginning of the group. A lot of different people in the North Sevier area have benefited from the services provided by these fine volunteers. Perhaps the most grateful are those of us who represent North Sevier High School. We have used the EMT on the football field, at wrestling matches, and for other emergency needs. It has been a comfort to have the services of these volunteers available, and we are very impressed with the capable manner they use in handling injuries. We at North Sevier take our hats off to the ladies and gentlemen of the Salina Emergency Medical Team. We want them to publicly know we are grateful to them for the job they are doing. And in OF THE WEEK to so important farmers, it is imperative to be assured of a strong and dependable source of supply. The merger would provide the farmers with a basic source of petroleum products and give the cooperative a huge new sales department to expand our operations to better serve our patrons. One of the major benefits to IFA patrons would be a fast redemption of its equity certificates. Under terms of the proposal being discussed, CENEX would pay off the $6 million in equity certificates presently held by IFA patrons. Twenty percent of this would be paid immediately, ifeao'iWwWf- and the r balance over a period, Mr. Roghaar explained. Instead of returning profits to stockholders in corporation fashion, farm cooperatives return equity certificates to patrons. The margin, or profit, derived from a purchase is used as equity capital or operating funds until the cooperative gets in a position to redeem them. The patron or customer thereby becomes an owner of the business, and his equity certificates are his holding or investment. The clearing off of the past equities would enhance the four-yea- Rick Robinson Rick has been chosen for his efforts in the Kanab game, where he was an important key to our win. He had six rebounds, but he shot seven out of ten from the free throw line for 70 and scored 25 points for the game. Rick has done an outstanding job for us this year, even though he has a bad back, he has played as though he could not feel it. A very fine job well done, Rick. Rick will receive a free dinner donated by GO Realty and team. Toms Drive-In- gt 2 Funeral services held for John P. Johnson Funeral services will be held February 26th, (today), at 1:00 P.M. in the Redmond Chapel, for John Peter Johnson, 72, of Redmond, who died in the Sevier Valley Hospital February 23, 1976. He was born August 8, 1903 in Redmond to Hans Peter 'ft and Annie Marie Nordfelt Johnson. He married LaVerda Shaw August 19, 1925 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Johnson was a stockman and farmer. He was president of the Vermillion Extension Canal Company; a board member and a past board member of Browns Hole Grazing Association. Survivors include his wife and two sons, Kent and U'Dell, all of Redmond; 12 grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Clinton, Richfield: Mrs. Melvin (Clara) Wall, Venice; Mrs. Albert (Jennie) Anderton, Salt Lake City; and Nola Larsen, of Redmond. Friends may call at the goodwill of patrons and members, and give more true value to current equity certificates, thereby boosting patronage, in the opinion of the IFA chief. In addition, Mr. Roghaar sees expanded services to be offered members, including more technical services in all departments in which the local is now involved. co-o- p John P. Johnson Redmond Chapel one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Nathan Anderson, under the direction of Peterson Mortuary. In this era of big business, the merger also would give us more clout and better purchasing power because of the tremendous volume of the parent organization, he said. If an agreement is finally reached, it could result in additional job opportunities in the area served now by IFA. Utah Wildlife Report HUNltRS thousand CHOICE SUCCESS Most of Utahs deer herd units were limited to buck only hunting during the 1975 season; but a few, those with deer in sufficient numbers to warrant the additional hunting pressure, were assigned a limited number of "hunters choice permits. Hunter success on these units was considerably higher than on the buck only units as expected. During the general deer hunt, 6,000 hunters choice permits were available to hunters. Not all of them were purchased as 5,169 were sold; Of the hunters purchasing the special permits only 4, 981 actually went afield and hunted, spending a total of 18,554 hunting days in search of - f five hundred (2,535) deer were harvested in the hunters chocie units. The breakdown consisted of 1,620 antlerless deer and 915 bucks. The highest success was experienced in the San Juan-Blu- e Mountain unit (herd unit 31A) and the San Juan-ElRidge unit (herd unit 31B). The success ratios of these two units were 66.7 percent and 66.4 percent respectively. Resident hunters comprised 74.6 percent of the permit holders and sportsmen made up the remaining 25.4 percent. There were 3,854 residents and 1,315 Two and thirty-fiv- e k permittees. Reasons for issuing the special permits varied from one area to another but were deer. The Kanab Club was there with all the tools of rough basketball and the two officials allowed the game to run rough and stinky for 28 minutes, until Eddie Mickelsen, of No. Sevier, was smashed to the floor with a possible broken arm. The proved no break. 1 am sure the officials are not crooked, but they let the game get so far out, I am sure knives and hatchets could have been used. The home band played three blind mice, as now the officials tried to restore a bit of order. Man, what poor taste for a school to display. Surely this is not a way of life for the Kanab school. Thats what makes me feel so good about Coach Beck and the Wolves most of the time they have given 110 but have done it with sportsmanship and good basketball, of the jugs at a time out. We felt 10 billion bacteria exchanged bodies in about a minute. Bet the bacteria was confused in changing bodies so fast - YUK! As 1 watched the Wolves get banged about, scratched and physically shoved around and still kept their cool, I felt good inside. They had every reason to hit the button, but they didnt. So let's simply say a very gutsy team victory with the reserves again playing a big part in the victory. Now lets go Joy Robinson and I were watching the Wolves drink out to bobcat country and try for a region win. 1 fuels, lubricants, feed, seed, and agricultural chemicals as well as hardware, farm equipment, tires, and other automotive products.
