Show ROAD BONDS VERY ESSENTIAL thinking pe people ople will vote for the bonds regardless of the IF 4 it april 30 the people i county are to vote yes or MI the bonding of the county for or for roads and bridges 41 I 1 ot this special election has been id ed i in all three of the life county sand band no doubt you are familiar I 1 roads and bridges are vitally iti tp and especially is this true as tp j precincts W which aich are actually by lack of kaid ted from developing k the people of this ir roa roads ds gir lttie afie county are so far as w we jj all in favor of the bonds no ay iy owner ma may well oppose it dickers ac kers soreheads foreheads sore heads or pessimists is eany other view view tT community jealousies upset trouble when it sans ans and cause 1 I if t e expected I 1 last week the free press published a screed on ry dope with just enough g jo to make up a movie scene Frid fridly ty rod and date dare kiick ft ick are hopelessly involved anton ton contemporary is worried it Js seem eem because roosevelt may ahe county seat and then hold beath just quietly tuck myton in ithe south myton mylon bench right tf vest pocket J even stated staled on the authority of N r abhat i the interest on the bonds ty years would run up to an py gt oti ot I A fair mind d reader 5 wonder whether or not they 1 I 5 when this enlighten enlightening inz crowd friday et A al would be in years or we might ask would this reservation country leen ideen how much developed in itt it fifteen years had it not beer been money the myton bank could help figure that thai out ae e free press could get some e 6 figures and throw more light g interest question aye even to ent nt of telling just when we shall old id out for borrowed money afree free press deigns to advise time me for dictation and bosses agone gone faded out as it were myton von editor could take one ip p to tennessee he might ad further further on that but the as onis ilis faithful friday s interest computations and e the free press operated a ime airie and then 10 lo and behold I 1 tili eizens i zens bosses and dictators will din ain this part of the good old evelt and the people of 0 this have ave no desire to drive boss fate e we want only what is fair at h we have a high ya a irly well equipped that has aerated for about eight years which time the countes coun tys EL r abas as mor ethan doubled likewise essed valuation myton citie we are informed initiated the lent nt tor for the high school but ly they wanted it for myton idelt ingot got it and thereby hangs a es s sit sir a tale of woe mostly eing ng the school year now closing elt citizens personally paid ain in order to keep the be school in son on Is this selfishness Is it nine community pride roost I 1 ople believe that chafa s good fourth gh school Is s the best enemy ot of 1 and of dictators and ad their sup S the high school and of every for or public good demon this his we believe myton peo sl the same way as to their town lat t the free preiss lambating lam basli basing ng of t actu actually alty represent the myton ka a public sentiment the free get gentry to compute the value or the profit an and d the loss in the high school business for twenty years and that might be conclusive our myon mylon contemporary so we are informed says that roosevelt will not support the bonds unless the high school s operated the fact act is that the bond question and the school have not been connected in any public gatherings or in committee work on th contrary it was decided that these ques ions are separate and distinct we cannot say how roosevelt and the towns in this end of he county will vote but this paper be libes we should support the bonds and all leading citizens of this section whom we have heard discuss the th e matter take the same view the people here believe if they are not given a square deal on this school proposition the time has come for action at duchesne th bond ques tien came up naturally no not avs piously riou sly as the myton paper insinuates orte one or two of the committee commit tec believed f the high sch ol 01 coald co ild be operated ws we should vive ive up county division while others believed in view vie of the school boards action being what we believe is a narrow prejudiced attitude we should fight for or a new county and thus eliminate considerable of this sectionalism this year we shall have between and more money for schools than we have ever had a some say that anis will be offset off set by b the loss of tax money collected because we have collected only 70 pe cent of 1920 taxes but hey forget that we shall have the 30 per cent of 1920 taxes laes as solvent credits and hat 1921 will not in all probability be worse for or tax collection than 1920 however if it is as bad as to percentage of taxes paid then it must be about 30 per cent worse to be on a par with the year just closed under these conditions th the hoard will launch into the high school business on a grand scale they will establish junior high schools at myton duchesne tabiona fabiona Ta biona Al tonah and make the roosevelt school the sime class although we are told by competent authority less than 2000 additional dit ional will operate the roosevelt school yet the board that is three of the five members will not consent to this additional amount for making rosevelt high school a standard four year proposition we are told that dr enochs opposes a standard standa td school for two reasons viz vin first because of the cos cost t and second because he believes no student should be taken away from home during the period of adolescence that is between fourteen and eighteen years of age the first objection seems to us as very puerile utterly unworthy of serious consi consideration aeration de ration the second objection goes into the subject of education too tar far for much newspaper discussion but no this well equipped school must be partly closed teaching staff reduced to satisfy whom why fair reader just to gratify narrow men whom it might appear are yet in an adolescent state stale this is not dictation not bossism boss ism oil oh no it is is policy this is about as broad a view in practical clarity of vision as the plan followed by mr lockhart for instance wherein he acts both ns county treasurer and as a member of the school board thus drawing two salaries from the taxpayers how much do they pay the county superintendent of schools look it up kind reader its more than a mighty big farm would produce it might appear as a man recently remarked that thai dr enochs mr winslow professor moore and county treasurer school board member lockhart were at least a quartette of men with ability of a high and unusual order with such men we shall have dictation vanish and bossism disappear it is reported report not verified that at a meeting at fabiona fabiona tabiona they voted unanimously for r closing the four year school and opening the junior high at that place of course t they hey would vote that way that is natural but it is not bossism boss ism it is not dictation it is merely business balderdash tommyrot As a roan man just advised us it seems like the time ks s here when a new conception of county gov government should be recognized viz have jentry compute the he interest dr enochs determine the degree of adolescence lockhart to hold about two mare more jobs raise rais e the of the county superintendent and the clerk of the school board and then we should be actually economical progressive provided of course that we have the free press to guard against dictation and bosses i |
