the council of the twelve bishop david A smith of the presiding bishopric slater sister susa Y gates ol of tile the general board of relief society ind rid sister zina Y card of 0 the general board of the primary were in attendance president william smart was away upon important matters and in liis his absence first counselor paul S hanson presided second counselor owen bennion was also in attend crice and patriarch ephraim lambert were vere also in attendance president don 13 colton of 0 the uli uh tah stake was present by special invitation and delivered an all address on oil sunday afternoon the attendance record ranged from on oil saturday morning to GS on oil sunday afternoon the later is 13 he largest attendance at any separate session tor for many years the bishopric of each of the twenty three wards of this stake was represented nineteen ot of the bishops being present in person most alost of the high councilors councillors Counci lors and many of the other slake and ward officers were in attendance the conference was characterized by a most wonderful outpouring of the spirit of the lord the gospel sermons sen words of encouragement and strong testimonies of the vocal solos viz the seer with new introduction just written 1 I stand all amazed at the love jesus offered te ble and ill go webre ahers you want me to go dear lord this being his first trip into the uintah basin he expressed his pleasure at the manifest growth and development of the country and said that the lord was bl ersing the labors of this pioneer people pointed out that the tim time e would come when the crops of the earth would tall fall but the god cod who preer preserved ved the children of israel would also preserve his people of today it if they would only keep his commandments mand ments ile he related visits to various places of historic inderst to th the e church a story told to him by an eye witness of the martyrdom of tile the prophet joseph and pa erlach hyrum smith the birth of joseph F smith and how hov the mob nearly destroyed ills bis life when but small he also bore a strong testimony to the divine appointment ot of ell all the men who have stood at the head ot of the church and said that president grant had been schooled by the lord tor for the position he be now holds in commenting upon tile the remarks of sister susa Y gates pertaining to relief society work elder ballard related the experience of his own mother as a relief society worker who had bad spent forty years in tills this service and while doing so had raised ten tell own souls the law of 0 tithing he said had been recognized by many of the churches as the best means of accomplishing their ends and some are adopting it in au an attempt to raise means to defray water tor for the land and that many other choice blessings would come unto them ire he further admonished admonish e d all to observe the sabbath day to tc teach their children according to the spirit of 0 the section of the doctrine and covenants one of 0 the secrets of the strength of the church leaders he said is that the minority abide the decision of 0 the majority he pointed out that the people were upon this world to learn certain lessons from the lord that it if they did not pass their grade they would have to go back and take the lesson over as the school child ile he read the doctrine and covenants of the things that were to come upon the earth that the epidemic that had been among the people was but a fore ore runner sent to warn the people and cause them to repent the lord would continue to pour out such scourges urges giving the people a time for repentance after each until the earth should be cleansed it if those who will not obey ills his laws the only escape of sacrifice commented upon the great blessings we all enjoy from the great sacrifice made by the prophet joseph and pointed out that all blessings from god are predicated upon sacrifice by which they
