Show CITIZENS MEETING ibe the citizens of roosevelt held a mass meeting at the dist district riat school building friday evening march 26 for the purpose of a ticket which will be voted for at the coming election saturday april about one hundred hundred citizens were present among them being many ladies thus showing that the people of roosevelt are vitally interested in the affairs of our city government ed F harmston acted as temporary chairman and after reading the call which was published in the standard last week announced that the election of permanent officers of the organization was now in order ernest H burgess was elected chairman and arnold reef secretary chairman burgess then made the announcement that at the coming election the voters of roosevelt corporation would first decide whether they wanted to be a city of the ad class and if so they would then decide to vote for city officials he then declared nominations open for mayor wm H smart in a well word ed speech nominated ed F harmston which was duly seconded by JM russell bussell there being but abne one nomination for mayor RS collett moved that it be by acclamation which carried mr harmston armston Ir thanked the citizens and said if elected he would serve the people of roosevelt to the best of his ability the chairman then announced that nominations for councilmen was in order the following were nominated R S collett clarence ashton 0 H bracken Pr acken wm worthen W 11 1 1 gagon owen bennion AH whitlock sr C C larsen and ME M E harmston Harms Harm lSon stan on motion it was decided to vote for the nominees by ballot and the five receiving the largest vote were to be placed upon the ticket roy wilkins wilkin george pearce and guy bracken were appointed tellers the vote was counted and the following were nominated RS collett clarence ashton 0 H bracken wm worthen and W H gagon two were nominated for city recorder herbert isham and JR lambert this the vote was counted and herbert isham was derial daiel ed nominated homer edwards was then unanimously nominated for treasurer on motion the chairman appointed a committee of three including the chairman to get up a petition with at least 50 qualified voters as signers R S collett clarence ashton and the chairman compose this committee they proceeded to get busy immediately and the petition is all signed sealed and delivered A motion was then made that this ticket was to be called citizens ticket nominations to fill vacancies were then in order and paul S and heber cmiller were declared elected the city ticket is as follows for mayor ed F harmston for counchan en R S collett clarence claren ce ashton 0 H bracken wm worthen W H gagon for recorder herbert ishman for treasurer homer P edwards |
