Show THE FORT LAUDERDALE (FLORIDA) DAILY NEWS (INDEPENDENT) (IN-DEPENDENT) Elsewhere on this page we reveal re-veal where Southern Democrats have suffered the ignominy of having to bolt their own party and align themselves with the Republicans. The disgrace does not come from these having to form a coalition with members of the GOP, a party that is American Am-erican as the hot-dog, it comes from the fact that Southerners lethargically permitted Northern North-ern leaders of the Party of Jefferson Jef-ferson to usurp the balance of power while New Dealers were busily engaged in tearing it a-part. a-part. At present there is no Democratic Demo-cratic party in the sense it once was under the leadership of Wilson Wil-son and Farley. Today it's a -group of politicos diveded against each other. Neither side respects the beliefs of the other. The party is split as wide open as the Grand Canyon and for this the blame can be placed at the feet of the Roosevelts, Wallaces Wal-laces and Peppers, who never did and never will believe in the theories of democracy. There is no extenuation for what they did to the Democratic Party as they have "spent" it to the brink of a political abyss where it tot-ers tot-ers today. To prove what these persons have done to the party, we cite i he statement of Honest Harold Icl.es who plans with the assistance assist-ance of James Roosevelt to recruit re-cruit 10,000,000 party-jumpers for the next election, when he said, "I have never been a Democrat." Dem-ocrat." If he wasn't a Demacrat what was he hanging around Washington for during the past 13 years while the Party was in power? If you don't know, we'll tell you. He was there for the same purpose as the hundreds of other non-Democratic followers of Roosevelt to drive a wedge as deep as possible into the heart of the Democratic Party,, Any person who refuses to admit that they haven't succeeded we'll refer re-fer him to the histories of John Nance Garner of Texas; James Farley, the late Al Smith, or John J. O'Connor, all of New York. If you think we are trying to sell you something that isn't good for your Constitution, how about the words of James Roosevelt, Roose-velt, who on Sunday night told a Philidelphia audience that the DEMOCRATIC and Republican Parties were MEANINGLESS! Isn't that a fine statement for the son of a President who owed everything he gained during the 12 years to the Democratic Party? Par-ty? This new organization is made up of nothing else but rabble-rousers. rabble-rousers. We're glad that they came out and denounced both parties because it shows the kind of card playing we can expect from them. THEY ARE "A"-NO. 1 COMMUNISTS WITH ONE AIM IN LIFE: to shoot the American Am-erican Way of Life as full of holes as it can stand. We all know the political history his-tory of Ickes. He's a party-bolter of the first water. The. Republicans Repub-licans inherited him and then in 1912 he jumped the traces to become be-come Bull Mooser and follower of Theodore Roosevelt. He apparently, ap-parently, became so engrossed with the name of Roosevelt that he slipped out of political exist-ance exist-ance until the arrival of Franklin Frank-lin the First in 1932, and up un-, til the day he received his walking walk-ing papers from President Truman Tru-man permitted Democrats to labor la-bor under the impression he was one of them. To show you what plans the Ickes' organization has for America Am-erica we give you some of his associates: as-sociates: Joseph E. Davics, former Ambassador Am-bassador to Moscow; Archibald McLeish, who read poetry and fidded while the New Deal burned; burn-ed; former Mayor Fiorello La-Guardia, La-Guardia, late of New York; Charles Boyer, late of France; and Frankie Sinatra the thrush. And for good measure we'll throw in the GREAT Orson Welles. HAROLD LE CLAIRE ICKES, ICK-ES, the China Shop Bull of the Rooseveltian Menagerie, and the aforementioned group of brain-trusters brain-trusters plan to form something in less than a year what it took the Democrats and Republicans more than a century to do. Do you really think they'll make it? Neither do we! |
