ground containing about 30 acres is what is now known as duchesne high school no 1 the building is a two story and basement structure and is of T shape the front part of the main building is by ft and the gymnasium and auditorium is 37 by 70 feet the finish on the inside is very beautiful being in douglas fir and the doors are rotary cut and veneered vene ered and stained with golden oak with bronze locks and hinges and the upper panels be ing of florentine glass as well as the upper windows the blinds are drawn up from the bottom to the stained glass thus alv giving ing a soft mellow light in the rooms which will save the eyes of lof the students there are two entrances one on the east side and the ma main in entrance enar anee facing south at the main entrance above the doors is s a large sign painted in golden I 1 letters high school you walk in n and find yourself in the ves i you then go into thel the lall hall down a few steps and you I 1 are in the basement go directly north and you will find the place that is of vital interest to all athletes viz the gymnasium this room is 37 by 70 feet and has a 20 foot ceiling the walls of this room are rough but the floor is nice and smooth and can be utilized for most anything n g in the way of sports just east of the gymnasium and under ground is a room 24 by 22 feet which will be known as the boiler and fuel room the boiler will not be installed this year as there is no appropriation for it and the board of directors have been compelled to tauy stoves for this winter which in the long run will be much more expensive as it will require a great deal more fuel to heat the building on the southeast corner comer of the basement is a room 23 by 37 ft and charted as the manuel training and n g room M but which will be utilized as the domestic art room this winter across the hall ball from this room are two separate toilets one each for the boys and girls you go west along the and you find a number of locker rooms as also closets for the janitor in the southeast corner comer is the domestic science room taking up 23 by 27 feet and cut into the following compartments kitchen dining room closets and laboratory directly north of this are two rooms N each ch 11 by 22 feet and are connected with the gymnasium by a separate stairway these will be used as pressing dressing rooms for boys and girls and are each equipped with shower baths on the first floor we will have to take you through a hill hall which 1 is by 35 feet and lead led you to the north room which is known as the auditorium itis 37 by 53 feet with an elevator elear floor lat at the end these is a stage 17 by 21 feet the stage is equipped ed with reflector foot lights thus making it nice to put on plays etc on each side of the stage there are rooms 8 9 by 17 feet which will be used as dressing rooms in the four comers of the main building there are class rooms each 23 by 28 feet and in the center facing south there is a library room and the principals room wald wilier are each 8 by teet feet also containing a lavatory and toilet room on the top floor in the northeast corner comer is a recitation room 13 I 1 a by 28 feet feete and adjoining that on the south is another I 1 room 13 by 24 feet feel in the southeast comer is the physical laboratory which is 19 jy 28 feet and in the center facing south is the demonstration room with tiers of elevated seats h having abing a capac capacity RY of from 50 to 60 students this room is 12 by 25 feet in the southwest corner is the chemical laboratory the size of this thi s room is 19 by 28 29 fiet feet the last tareq rooms above named are con necked with doors and have aar storage and dark rooms directly north of the chemical laboratory is a recitation room 13 by 24 feet and in the northwest pest corner comer another reception room 13 by 28 feet thus you see we have one of the most thoroughly modern modem up to date high school buildings in the state the
