Show DUCHESNE STAKE conference one of most interesting meetings ever held in duchesne county A large crowd present Confere conference ice of the duchesne stake and sunday march was as held saturday 27 and 28 the first session convened in the social hall at 1030 a m saturday president win H small conducting the meeting the meeting opened with a song and then they were led in prayer by D W Afar marchant cliant after which they sang another song president smart mentioned the consumption of the latter day work as indicated by the signs of the times he also briefly reviewed the recent missionary mission iry work of the stake president Pies ident J it hardy continued the subject of missionary work shoving clearly the results of the missionary spirit to both giver and receiver he also spoke of individual responsibility for our example among the peo le ie the choir then rendered conie come abou glorious day of promise hardin benion who had bad just arrived from salt lake city spoke of the importance of record making add acal urged local recorders and clerks to be accurate and careful in the compilation com of of their inspective records elder J W lV walker alker visiting tink member of cf the general S S board from salt lake city spoke of the ness of the work odthe latter day saints its gerfe perfect ot organization and educational opportunities tor for great and and small the afternoon session was devoted sunday school work and after a prayer by b heber miller and a song stake superintendent of S S 1 P F rudy read ackart of the schools for the years 1913 and 1914 which showed a creditable increase in attendance and efficiency assistant J F watkins spoke on the subject the juvenile its value anyplace and place in the sunday schools and in the home the choir rendered the sn ahem awake put on thy strength the topic ideals of the school was ably and interestingly treated by elder walker ephriam lambert of the stake presidency followed apon upon the word of wisdom and general topics the second session of the sunday school met in the hall ball after the opening exercises the congregation separated idt aioo 0 0 the e various compartments going goina I 1 to the se school bool rooms to hold their met meetings tings at 8 p m all reassembled in the hall where a missionary and te teachers aAers reunion was held A unique feature of the gathering was a street meeting keeling conducted by elders ira pace and others just as it is done in the I 1 missionary field on sunday morning at 9 0 clock the last of the sunday school sessions was held in the hall at 1030 the usual conference convened where the follow ing exercises were conducted singing by the congregation prayer anthem gloria is the lord elder james hacking of vernal vern a I 1 related some experiences of the earliest days of this country showing a wonderful development during the past few years wm oneil spoke for a few minutes of his experiences during his recent work in the state legislature the male quartette rendered one sweetly solemn thought elder R S collett followed with an interesting discourse upon the principles of the gospel and the great plan of salvation the choir then sang for the closing anthe anthen n like as a father I 1 at 2 p m the house was filled to its capacity opening with a song and led in in prayer by bishop calder of vernal the choir sang 0 be joyful in the lord the general and stake officers were presented by stake clerk hardin benion and sustained by the people choir let him come ir elder J W walker addressed the conference on the subject of blessings come as a result resul t of sacrifice and laws kept president wm win H smart endorsed all that hat hid had been said caid and done and suggested that teachers usually do too much of the work the pupils should be heard he also spoke of the word of wisdom and its relation to the health of the people self production and self support on the part of the people of the basin was strongly and interestingly urged by the president that we might be prepared for any condition that may face us foolish and indecent dress were strongly condemned he also touched upon the following points proper amusements the prohibition bill emer elder don B colton president of the uintah stake spoke at some length on his subject which was very interesting to the audience the meeting th enclosed by singing 0 my father the last session of the conference convened at p m and after singing and opening prayer the choice of the teacher was ably discussed by heber C miller after which w aich the choir rendered thi the flower song elder J W walker again addressed the meeting subject perfection of the church organization it was intensely i interesting rite resting and he held his hearers spellbound pell bound until the end |
