OCR Text	Show AL SMITH DIES " J if? . jv ' " NEW YORK Alfred E Smith died last week at Rockefeller Institute In-stitute hospital. Death came shortly after his physician had reported that Smith was "failing rapidly". Smith, Governor of New York state four times and Democratic candidate for the presidency in 1928, was 70 years old.
